Have you thought about writing a guide to Africa? You have recently been there, and say the worlds most popular guide (Lonely Planet) is inadequate. Why not write a PDF download guide, and sell it.
You have sufficient exposure to market it.
Also, have you tried promoting travel insurance and guide books (via Amazon) on your website?
I make a living doing similar things. The commission on travel insurance is high.
Cheers

Unemployment figures (in the West) are adjusted to make better reading.
If 20 are unemployed (a likely figure) 10 are moved into get-back-to-work programs, or government funded work schemes, therefore none of those are unemployed.
That leaves the other 10, who are unemployed, which become the official government figure.
I am living in Thailand right now.
Everyone has work, as there is no benefits system for them.
Many people work on the supermarket being built nearby, many on other projects such as roads. Its hard work.
Some sell goods on the beach to tourists. Others make and sell food.
Finding/making work is fairly easy. I make websites as I travel. I work everyday, because I like it.
In the west, lazy people are happy not to work. I am from the UK, our unemployment benefits are excellent for lazy people. I choose not to live there very much. I like to work, but not to fund other people.

Lychee are one of my favorite fruits here in Thailand. Recommended for those who have not tried them.

Your Blackberry plan is one of the best, and probably the best for you.
The iPhone is very locked down, they only want you to use it as they want.
I am a long term traveller, and I use my iPhone, which I have unlocked for us on any network. Yet, I still have to get new SIM and ensue it is GPRS/EDGE activated in each country.
Currently in Thailand, using EDGE network
