I once brought runner shoes to Manila, which was a horrible mistake. I have never felt so uncomfortable on my feet, and desperately searched for a pair of flip-flops. In my opinion, it is difficult to find shoes that do not feel hot and humid in a tropical climate, so normally I just wear flip-flops.

A HOBO Travels to work

A bum neither travels or works
I would say there's another category of travelers not mentioned: Somebody "who travels and doesn't need to work", in other words a wealthy person travelling perpetually.
