having spent some time,(longer than I had planned)in Iquitos drinking in Jungle Jims,I knew I had to return to the real world back in the U.K.I was recommended by Mad Mick to try the Flying Dog Backpackers Hotel in Lima for my short stay in Lima.
What a wonderful place, run by gringos, clean, cheap with a great atmosphere,
and so helpful.
If any of you have to spend some nights in Lima then you must try out this hotel.

if you're in peru, and need a beer from a sexy young waitress, without being dribbled all over by peruvians: JUNGLE JIMS PUB.
chicken baguettes that are simply too big, live music from crazy canadians, never ending games of Risk, non stop stories from mad mick...

Greetings from me and the Mills family to everyone in Iquitos and to everyone who has had the pleasure of visiting this oasis in a sea of green. I have been to Iquitos twice and am currently planning another trip! Mike and Wally are always so welcoming, friendly and hospitable. I remember a few good nights at Wally's place in the company of "Mad Mick". One night my dad got so drunk he stumbled out of Wally's into a torrential downpour and returned an hour later soaking wet! I can't wait to get back to Iquitos, see you soon.

My traveling partner and I literally got stuck in Iquitos when we discovered that all flights out of the city were booked for close to a week! Alas,we stumbled into Jungle Jims to have a beer and discuss our situation and there we met Mike & Wally who directed us to a great Jungle tour and even a camera to use!!! When we came back they graciously allowed us to help serve at a breakfast for about 30 kids in the area. We had a wonderful stay in Iquitos and never wanted to leave when our time was up. Wally, Mike, Alrna-- hope life is treating you all well. Cheers to some great memories! Kelly

Had a fabulous time relaxing at Jungle Jim's while staying in Iquitos. Spent many a night and day outside chatting with the other wayward travelers who had landed in the Amazon basin or sitting on the end of the bar watching football with the resident Brits. Great place for good conversation and cold beer. Miss it already.
