Hitchhiking In Togo - Tips
Hitchhiking in Togo
I think Hitchhiking in Togo would be very difficult, however you can hitch a
ride with a normal passenger car and pay the going rate of transport.
I have discovered if I travel to the very edge of the city, either just
before or after the police control points, I can hold out my arm, flag down a
five place of five seat passenger car and travel to the city of my
choice.I need to know the price of normal van to the destination as this
is how much the driver will want for the ride.
The controls will sometime get frustrated or angry if they see you doing this
and will try to force you to get in a van. Do not get in the van, take a
Motorcycle taxi further outside the city and wait.
The best time to catch a rise is about sunrise as the business travelers are
leaving the city.
This is faster and cheaper than the large vans, there is no bag fees, and you
do not have to wait for them to fill, and because you are trying to flag down a
five passenger car it goes faster and is more comfortable.
