1-5 RATING SYSTEM FOR TRAVELER DRINKING WATER

Rule of thumb: Observe how the locals drink water, see if there is water in restaurants.

Rule of thumb: You are almost always safe if you drink bottle water.

 

1 - FROM THE TAP

  1. Drink anywhere in the country from the tap or the normal faucet.
  2. Water will be served in glasses or pitchers in the restaurants.

2 - MAYBE FROM THE TAP - HALF AND HALF

  1. The locals do not purchase water.
  2. The tourist buy bottles of purified water.
  3. The locals tell you to buy water, but possibly because they always are selling water to the tourist and it is profitable.
  4. There is no water served at restaurants at tourist restaurants.
  5. Water is served at the locals restaurants.

3 - BOILED OR BOTTLED

  1. Some areas or cities of the country or cities you can just boil the water and drink.
  2. Other areas you need to drink only purified water.
  3. The cities are normally worst than the rural areas.

4 - BOILED FROM THE TAP

  1. The water is pretty good, clean, but maybe bacteria that could cause you problems.
  2. This water needed to be boiled or brought to boiling and it is more or less good.
  3. The  locals may or man not receive water delivered to their houses in five gallon or maybe large 3-4 liter bottles.
  4. The rich locals will purchase bottle water, while the poor one will drink it from the tap.
  5. There is no water served at restaurants.

5 - BOTTLE WATER ONLY

  1. The locals receive water delivered to their houses in five gallon or maybe large 3-4 liter bottles.
  2. There is no water served at restaurants.
  3. The water from the tap is colored or full of debris maybe.
  4. Obvious smells to the water.
