BUY PLANE TICKET
This is the answer to the question, how to travel?
After you buy the ticket,
then you will learn everything needed.
And if you do not learn,
“So what?”
Who cares?
Why learn?
You got the ticket, remember!
PHILIPPINES SEPTEMBER 1, 2004
I purchased my ticket, now everything else will come together
and before I know
it, I will be in the Philippines taking photos,
observing the local animals, and
making observations, and of
course writing a few snide comments.
I was asked the other night,
“Is there any country you would not go back to?”
I really wrenched with this question and it bothers me to think about
it, as I
really do not make this type of judgment, plus why would
I make the decision, if
I make the decision if I changed my mind,
then I would be pigeon holed into my
comment or held hostage
to my statement.
Now of course the person was not worried about me, they were
wanting guidance on
where are good places to go in the world,
so they can make their short list of
places to visit. The world is
big and to visit everywhere is not possible, so
you do need to
make a priority list.
My list normally has something to do with a beach, and what is
close, easy, and
cheap, I do not enjoy making reservations so
hard to travel in Europe, although
I am very curious about Europe.
HAPPINESS
I am positive people believe they will be happier in some other place,
I personally
do not worry much about happiness, maybe girls,
beaches, and enough books to
read, but not happiness. I am
sure that I will be unhappy soon and then I will
also be happy soon,
but when I am unhappy then I try to make changes, but hard
to
say a country will make me happy or unhappy.
CHANGE THE CHANNEL
I do not choose countries by degrees of happiness, or what is
there, I choose by
becoming curious about the place, sometimes
the country is in between me and the
place I wish to visit. I really
do not think traveling by planes is the way to
see the world, if you
want to see the world you need to use a bus, in Europe,
Australia,
and the USA you may want to use a car, but only in these areas,
in
the cheap places a car is stupid and dangerous.
Wow, that was a judgmental statement….. Hehehe and now someone
is angry with me
because they have driven a car around in
Asia or South America, so be it. I
suppose if you feel stupid,
therefore you are stupid. I do not every feel stupid
even when
someone says I am stupid, but some people know they are
stupid so they
do not want anyone to say this.
I love to stereotype and generalize; these things make my
life easier and helps
me to make decisions.
I suppose the man wanted to know where I would not go as
generalization; in the
end, I said Panama or Nicaragua, or maybe
Venezuela. Panama is boring,
Nicaraguans and Venezuela people
do not seem happy and fun, so why would I go
back, but then
again I may have met the wrong hundred people, but maybe
the
hundred I met were exceptions.
I made a statement last week that Asians lie as part of their
culture; this got
me sent two very stupid letters. I thought I
would do some reality testing and
went asking friends that I think
know or understand culture better than most and they agreed.
Asians lie as
part of their culture as much as American get fat more
as part of their culture,
or Canadians seem to have a cultural need to say,
I am not Americans by wearing a flag.
One of the
letters was very funny because they said,
it is like saying Germans wear leather and pee on girls, now I
never thought about this, but this person was
pointing out this as
something I should not say, and must have used that
example for a reason, because they probably believe this...
so what the people that wrote were saying,
“Do not say what you believe.”
NOTE:
Hoboes are NOT upstanding respected citizens.
They are sort of tramps that travel.
Although the one believes that Germans wear leather and
do strange things, and
the other person had no problem believing
that Asians could created a scam by
lying, but I was not suppose
to say that Asians support lying, or if they lie
they are liars.
One person wanted me to be objective; I do not remember ever
saying or telling
anyone ever that I was objective. That is the last
thing these newsletter are is
objective, this is a letter full of opinions
and my observations. I am sure some
are correct and some are
really off base. It is very embarrassing to admit that
I make a
mistake or misinterpreted something, but I am positive I make
mistakes
daily at least 5 times, and maybe more, but I also make
good decisions also, but
I travel for fun,
and I write the newsletter for fun.
I will unsubscribe these two people after I send the letter…
What fun?
On the other hand, maybe they can beat me to the punch.
So when I am unhappy, do not like a country, do not like
a person, place, thing
or anything…
“I CHANGE THE CHANNEL.”
I can only hope the next channel has a better show.
There is always hope, and
“Life is always good.”
Buying a plane ticket is one way of changing the channel.
