A Hobo trip around the world. Year 5

~   HOBO STEW (A Dish of Meat and Vegetables)

I am sending out an extra Newsletter.

My brother was married for the 2nd time
last week. I did not return and join in the celebration
because of money constraints.
He is a good man.
I hope him and his new wife “Connie” will be
very happy.
I Love You and am thinking about you both.
I think Thailand is an excellent place for Honeymoons.

I got a lots of negative comments on the last newsletter.
That is good.

I met a girl that works on a reality show a couple weeks ago.
Like Survivor, Big Brother, or Ship Wrecked.
They film people 24 hours a day and then people watch these
shows. Reminds me of a soap operas.

? Hmmm do people like confrontation...?
They enjoy watching shows that portrayed or stage situations
where people argue, fight, or fall in love.
Un-real and created to be entertaining.

I was thinking to myself.... hehehe
There is not a day that goes by that some REAL
situation happens to me.

I was sitting around thinking about this, and the
next day I experienced a great REAL story.
So I told you a REAL story in the prior newsletter.

Now.... If you read that letter real closely.
The whole story was in my MIND.
I was telling you my thoughts and feelings as a story.
I actually was minding my own business.
I did nothing pro-active or and did not even make
any verbal replies to the people.
I was just telling you my thoughts.
REAL thoughts and real feelings.

I had a lots of fun with the Austrian couple.
Tried to have a friendly conversation with a British Girl
gave her privacy and was respectful of
her not so subtle clues that she did not want to share
conversation or time with the rest of us.

Do you think it mean that I did not include her in
the car trip?

Do you really think a person should encourage
another person to Hitch-Hike? I do not think so.
They have to make that decision on their own.
She was 100 percent safe waiting for the driver to repair
the car, and we was only 80 percent safe.

This story is REAL and for the safe traveler, that has
their eyes open. It is REAL life.
It was my thoughts, feelings and very funny.

This was just a funny story.
Of all the REAL thoughts INSIDE my head.
I did nothing, whether comment, or actions.
Just a lot of my thoughts.
I was just laughing at the whole group of us
and all the fun reactions and what REALLY happened.

There are people in the world that do NOT
I am going to say that again.

There are people that do NOT say,

“Have a nice day.”
“Welcome to our Hotel.”
“Hope you enjoyed your stay.”
“Excuse me, the van broke down. Let me make your life
better by buying a couple of drinks. While we repair the van,
why do not go wait in the shade. An alternative vehicle is being sent
and will pick you up shortly, and you can continue on your

People that hurt other people.
There are people that make fun of other people.
I will make a statement.
I learned about the phrase,
“Taking the piss out you.”
Because of different British people that apologized
after they offended me. They minimized it, and
“I didn’t mean it.”
Guess. It felt just as real.
I do not think it is funny in real life.

I told you a REAL story about rats.
I told you are REAL story about a mini-van breaking down.
I told you my REAL thoughts.
I told you some British Slang.
Do you think I make these stories up?
Get real.

I also told you, the Thailand guy gave the driver of the
car 200 Baht, and that spoke very highly of the Thailand
people. We did not ask him to do that, he was a good
guy, but does not speak English. And why should he.
He lives in Thailand

To quote the last lines of the funny story,
“I do wish to thank that little Buddha on the car dash
for the experiences of Paradise.”

And I will say it again.
I REALLY want to,
“thank that little Buddha on the car dash
for the experiences of Paradise.”

I am not being cynical, or sarcastic.
I saw life simple when the man re-aligned the Buddha
and made him face straight ahead. Life is full of confused
and mixed up people. I admit I am probably one of the most
confused. But every day I just get up, laugh at myself for being
addicted to coffee, travel, and confused mixed up people.

I am in Paradise.
I get to meet REAL people.

I suppose if I did not Love people so much.
I would go home where I could surround myself with
people that will not offend me. Or go to the resort where
there have no rats.

I am on the Island of Koh Phi Phi, in Southern
Thailand, and a beach lovers paradise. I will probably stay
here a minimum of 2 weeks. Plus here in the middle
of the Backpacker Universe I can try to Understand,
“What is paradise?”

On page 282 of the book
“The Beach”
Written by Alex Garland
it says,
“I felt like I’d been damned by a glimpse of paradise.”

The little Buddha gave me (Andy) a glimpse of paradise.
In the middle of confusion.
I am here in “Beach” paradise.

When Alex Garland wrote that line,
The main character Richard was not on “The Beach.”
Enjoying the sun, and playing volleyball.
He was just emotionally coming down from being afraid
that he was going to get shot by the drug traffickers.
I am going to try to explain the Backpacker Universe
in the next few issues, and
Why I am addicted to travel.

Life in Paradise is life Un-edited.

I want to make some quick replies to e-mails.
Saves money folks.

Thanks John in Paraguay. You really want this on the radio.
They would tar and feather me... hehehe
Thanks for the “Right on” from and for explaining to me
what the word “Missive” means. Bill in Seattle.
Iris... I have read your email, and do appreciate the feedback.
Will try to adapt.
Thanks to the 2 people that asked me to Un-subscribe them.
(Click on the link at the bottom please)
Sorry mom about cussing, or use of profanity.
Mary - I love you in Arequipa. It just a story for elucidation.
Thank to BKK Boy for great e-mail on the Philippines.
Thanks for the British girl on for letting me
try to “Chat her up.” for 3 hours yesterday on this Beach.
Any of you that think I am Saint?
I be hobo.

Just another day in Paradise!
Be a Hobo, and leave your mark.
