Zinder Niger

I took a 16 hour plane trip from Cairo, Egypt to Niamey, Niger, browsed
around the Capital of Niger for a couple of days, then a 11 hour bus ride to
Maradi, Niger. Talked with some NGO - (Non Governmental Organizations)
located in the country to help with the Epidemic of Mal-Nutrition.

Took a 3 hours bus trip to Zinder, Niger. There I met with one coordinator of
Medecins Sans Frontieres.

Rode by small Motorcycle for 11 hours to the Village of Zermou, Niger.
Tomorrow I take a 8 hours bus trip to the city of Agadez, Niger to see
the Tuareg Nomads.

Niger

I have done some hard traveling in the last couple of weeks, I am
ready for a beach, however all I have seen is a lot of sand in Niger.

I am in Culture Heaven here, a perfect place for person interested
in Languages, Cultures and Africa.

I would like to travel to the end of the world, a place where the
modern cultures ends and the original man exist. Niger is not the
end of the world, however it is a safe way to visit a place close
to the end. I believe the end of the world is located in some
remote place where there still exist un-contacted tribes of
people, I will someday find the end of the world.

Niger is having a tough time now, there is NOT a famine,
there is plenty of food, however there is an

- Epidemic of Mal-Nutrition -

This was defined or explained to me by Doctor Ahmed Zouiten
the Medical Coordinator for the Switzerland Branch of
- Medecins Sans Frontieres - or
- Doctors Without Borders - in English

I feel a little ashamed as I passed along I was visiting a Famine
area as I understood it or it was portrayed on TV to me by the BBC
News Station from England.

I am not in a Famine, Area, I am in an area where they have
consistently and consecutively not eaten the vegetable, fruits
and other nutritious foods to the point children are dying.

I am still sad to say, I do not know what foods they need to eat
as everyone concentrates on the problem, and I forgot to ask
Doctor Zouiten.

Maybe a Nutritional Expert out there can surmise the foods
needed by these nice Niger people.

The people live on Millet, Goat, Eggs, Chicken, Beef, Beans, Peanuts,
maybe the Atkins Diet of only high protein taking to the worst degree.

This is about it for foods they eat. They are Cattle or Bovine people.
This problem is every year, it will continue every year.

I would guess.
1. Find out which nutrients are missing.
2. Discover which of these foods will grow in this climate.
3. Plant them with the help of the world and convince
the people they need to eat them or die.

This is also cultural problems, there is a need to
change the culture of Niger.

I would say there is a need for
- Cultural Imperialism. -

I could hide behind the term
- Behavioral Changes -

However there is some customs and ways of living
that is causing mal-nutrition, and the children
are dying.

To follow my trip and the Epidemic please read before or
after this link in my blog.

I am very happy to be in Niger, it is a unique, special
and happy culture, the people are special, however
they have not seen that many blond boys with blue
eyes, so I am an alien, plenty of attention for me.

I will travel now north for 8 hours to Agadez, a place
that was a part of the Camel Caravans going across
the Sahara. Full of...

Nomads

Nomads of the Sahara Desert

Note that there is a special relation between me
and the word - Nomads -.

Pantene Shampoo is Perfect for Shaving.

I normally buy the cheap stuff, however I had no choice
in Cairo, so I purchased the Pantene, I will now use
on a regular basis. It is perfect for shaving, has lots of
cream and this is sold almost anywhere on the planet.

The only problem is the lid will open up in your backpack.
I have a special bottle I carry to refill, however the electrical
tape is a second solution.
