Andy...FYI
In rural Ireland a man was asked whether there was an
Irish translation for the word manana. After considering
the matter for a time, he replied, "Well now, I'm after thinking
that we do have several words that would be close, but for
the life of me I can't think of one which expresses the
same sense of urgency."

I will leave Tuesday and go to the USA for
a couple of week before Europe. I am happy
because a couple of friends have offered a floor
sleep on Europe.. Maybe a bed.
Lots of countries in Europe though.
hobo curiosity makes me stop, and look at
different things. Argentina is different than other
countries, but all countries are different.
Argentina
My observations is there are 4 major regions of
Argentina.
1. Buenos Aries
2. Córdoba (West of Buenos Aires)
3. Patagonia.(South)
4. Salta and Tucuman (North close to Bolivia, Brazil)
Buenos Aires is a city.
The lifeblood of Argentina,
Everything enters, and leaves through Buenos Aries.
The people of Buenos Aries have their own accent, or
way of talking that lets you know where they are from.
Buenos Aires is a Europe wannabe. (Wants to be)
It is a world class city.
The place to party in Argentina.
Córdoba
(West of Buenos Aires)
In the northwest part of Argentina. The area appears
to be more populated than the south, but more of a
mix of the original Indians, and holding on to the early
culture of Argentina. Probably a more of the cowboys
they call Gauchos there. Although I do not know much of
Córdoba, I have grown extremely curious, and will
make the journey there on my next trip.
More farms, cattle, and industry there.
Patagonia
(South)
Cold, mountainous or flat.
Sparsely populated. With the original settles more from
England, and Ireland, and such and less
of the Spanish settlers. The area was later populated
more by the people coming form northern Argentina,
and Chile to look for jobs in the petroleum industry.
This is a very mixed culture. The architectural has roots
in Europe, and half of only Spain. The influence of the
England still exist in the Falklands.
Lots of nature, flatlands, and mountains.
Sheep and Petroleum.
Salta and Tucumen
(North close to Bolivia, Brazil)
Salta is probably named after the Falls of Iguacu.
I am not sure, but the world SALTA in Spanish mean to
jump. Salta is just below the great waterfalls.
In Venezuela they call Angel Falls - Salta Angel
I highly recommend you see the Falls of Iguacu.
This area is a mix of cultures, as the culture change
from Argentina to Bolivian, and Brazil.
Just for fun here is Quote from my
Encarta CD Encyclopedia about GAUCHOS
Gaucho, a cowboy or herdsman of the Pampas, or prairies,
of Argentina and Uruguay, who lived on the grass plains of
southern South America from the mid-18th to the mid-19th
century. Gauchos were essentially nomadic mestizos
(people of mixed Native American and Spanish descent).
Bold and skillful riders, they earned an adventurous livelihood
on cattle ranges or by illegal horse and cattle trading at the
Brazilian frontier. The weapons used by the gaucho in capturing
wild horses and cattle, often for their hides, were the lasso
and the bola, a cord-and-weight type of sling thrown to
entangle the legs of quarry. Leather making was an additional
source of income for the gauchos, and many of them were
also wandering minstrels. Politically, they played an important
role fighting Native Americans and as revolutionaries in the
history of Argentina.
The characteristic apparel of the gaucho included a flat,
brimmed hat; baggy trousers over boots; a wide belt of
silver or coins; a woolen poncho; and a colorful scarf.
Maybe it will help you to...
