In Ghana approximately 1 in 10 building is painted at an advertisement for a cellular telephone company. Here in one photo is MTN, Vodofone, and Tigo, there is one more called Zain.

I believe they supply the paint in exchange for free advertising, Coca Cola is famous for supplying signs above the storefront for free, with the Coca Cola branding. This is cooperative marketing.
