ANT RULES
1. Keep all food outside your room, and do not eat inside your room.
2. Hang up in plastic bags from the ceiling any food you do choose to keep in room.
3. Move your bed away from the wall so the ants cannot crawl from wall or windows into your bed.
4. Make a perimeter around your room or ant powders or maybe boric acid.

Hi Andy,

On CRL (Yahoo group CostaRicaLiving) there's been talk about dealing with
tropical ants. It was suggested that counter tops be wiped down with
vinegar. Here's some other control remedies:

Subject: Ant baits

Try a low toxicity bait as follows:

2 teaspoons boric acid
1/4 cup hot water
1 cup corn syrup, light or dark
Dissolve the boric acid in the water and then combine with the syrup.

Or

1 tablespoon boric acid
2.5 oz corn syrup. Heat them to dissolve
2.5 oz water

or
t tablespoon peanut butter
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon boric acid

Not sure how to mix this one.

The peanut butter is for the ants that prefer an oil/protein bait. The
others are for sugar.

Sugar usually works but some ants change preferences based on what they
are doing in the nest at the time.

Boric acid can be found in farmacias.
