Hotels - What to avoid? Checklist of problems.

Hello,
I live in 90 percent of the time in countries that people define as underdeveloped so this list is primarily targeted for these types of countries, but please do not be arrogant and believe that living in a 5 Star Hotel is safe. The biggest and most serious problems occur in the larger hotels. You are not safer.

IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES - BUT REALLY APPLIES TO ANY COUNTRY

VENTS - There are vents, holes, grates, or other methods of allowing noise or air to circulate. Although they are needed, listen to the sounds that come in the room. If possible have a friend talk loudly from outside the room.

CORRIDOR WINDOW OR VENTS - If there is a window or vent that is on a hallway or corridor to the hotel. This will allow people to look in the window, or you can hear all the noises of the other guest.

TOILET DOORS - Avoid room with no toilet doors. The smells, animals, and bug live inside toilets. Better to have a door if possible.

WINDOWS - A table that is next to a window or a shelf. A person can reach inside and steal from the table.

WINDOW NEXT TO DOORS - A thief can reach in and unlock the door to enter.

CATS AND ANIMALS - You will have fleas, mites, and other feces type problems.

CONNECTED ROOMS - Avoid and suites, or connected room. The real big problem is when there is a window between your room and the adjoining room. The noises will annoy you to no end.
