Question: Jorge From Andy In Togo

Answer:

Hello Jorge,
I think you was lucky on the quick reply... hehehe. The question was a good question and intrigued me into writing quick, this time is probably more normal. It is annoyling difficult to write from Africa as the internet cafe has daily problems, I have to walk a long ways to get to the cafe. I can although write offline and send in the internet cafe, so this is good.
This is also of interest, the writing of Travel Fiction, I read a lot of books, I actually do not work or do much, I have an overabundance of time to do nothing. I therefore read a lot. I think most readers think of how they travel, they look at tourist attractions every day for the complete day. I am lucky if I look at a tourist attraction one day in ten, I actually do not like to be a normal tourist and when I do, it is for about two hours in the day.
I read a lot of James Michener or Wilbur Smith, I am presently reading the book Travels by Michael Crichton. I do not like to read books like the book by Michael, about someones trip. I would not like to read my own blog.
Writing is a mixed can of worms, I find I am typing the recommende 1500 words per day or something like that and has slowly made able to type and express myself clearer simpler. I am always thinking in convoluted and confused sentences, and hard to stop writing the way I think.
Hope Philly is warm, it is hot here, the electricity goes off in the room, the fan stops and I have to leave the room because the heat becomes unbearably.

Hi Andy,

wow, thanks for such a quick and thorough reply!

well, i am jorge, but not any jorge from colombia. i'm from philly pennsylvania in fact. i wrote you one other time, asking when you felt it was the right time to move to the next destination. you told me it was pretty much a gut feeling you had.

i'm a writer and i've become a nomad myself, traveling the world, and i read your newsletter for inspiration and advice. i like writing travel fiction, that's why i asked you for an us-them word if there was one.

Thank you for the thing about the trolley traveler and the 3-month time frame. Those were really helpful.

Wish you the best, Andy!

Regards,
Jorge
Thank you,
