Fan Squeak Repair

Ceiling fan in center of ceiling

I am in room number 4 of the Galion Hotel here in Lome, Togo West Africa. The rooms above the restaurant are rough, the center ceiling fan has been squeaking very loud for two days now, hard to sleep or concentrate. I finally put a chair on the table and tried to decided what was squeaking.

I think it is just the connection. I was thinking, maybe some vegetable oil, the hotel is not much on maintenance and I do not think they have any tools or maintenance supplies on site. I was looking around, I see my can of insect spray and thought, nothing to lose.

I drench the connection.

It has stopped now for about 20 minutes, what a relief.
