Hello Laura Name: Laura EMail: (...) Country: USA Message: Hi Andy, My fiance and I are planning our travels for May of this year -- we want to buy a one way ticket to Thailand but were told we must to have a way out before we get there, otherwise we will not be let off the plane (Or on the plane in SEA for that matter). Just wondering if you had any tips to get around this, we know tickets are cheaper once we get to Thailand, so it seems like a waste of money to buy a continuting ticket from home. Thanks, Laura YOU WROTE - Note: (...) Three dashes means I edited the text ANSWER: I have flown into Bangkok, Thailand numerous times, I have never needed an onward ticket. I do think I was originally told this, but they will allow about anyone in the country. If you are from the USA, then probably not a problem. Onward tickets is a windfall for travel agents, however I see them as being just an annoyance. DO NOT groups all of Southeast Asia together though, I do need an onward ticket for the Philippines, and I am sure there are other countries on the list that need onward tickets. Travel Agents do have value, especially if they are knowledgeable, not many of them on the earth, and most lie too much. There is many ways to fake an e-ticket and is easy, the travel agent should be able to give you a good e-ticket. However, of course this is not honest, however, I am not sure how to deal with this issue honestly. They are not going to throw you in jail, they would just not allow you on the plane, airlines in the USA are not in the business of denying tickets, they would have to adjust you ticket or refund. I one time purchased an onward ticket, and the travel agent refunded the ticket to my credit card, they can do this.
