How you were treating hiwot in your house while she was working with you? Does she have ever hold her passport and living permit in her hand? Does she had holy day? Does she work in your house only 8 hours? Does she had her own private life? Was she free? Think about all things what you have done to her, how much you were giving her as a salary? I just want to add that I know an ethiopian friend who was working with a lebanese family; she was hired as a nany but she was required to do all the house work like cooking, washing, shopping cleaning etc.. Foreigner who hire ethiopian or other peoples from a poor country consider their hired home staff like their slave and OFTEN do not give them RESPECT nor the freedom to leave. Hired household workers often are harrassed insulted, emotionally and sexually abused etc some of them also are not even paid, do not receive their wages. The united Nations Human Right Chart is very clear about the rights of a person. It is illegal to hold on to the passport and identity documents of a hired staff, it is punishable by law. But so often employers choose not to abide by the law because the hired staff have no say, they cannot fight for their rights because of so may barriers: languages, lack of information about resources, low self esteem, depression etc.. So often the hired staff do whatever they can to get rid of overcontroling abusive and dangerous employers. I say GET OVER IT! I had a maid called HIWOT AYEHUBIZU from Adis Abbaba. she stayed under contract for two years and a half at my home. She was very happy and I was very generous with her. When contract finished, she told me that she will go for one month to her parents and then come back to me, so I renewed all her papers and gave her two ways ticket and I told her that I will double her salary because she is so good. She went on June22nd to Ethipia and then the war started in Lebanon. We get in contact with her and she promised that she will comer back as soon as the airport resume its work. When the airport opened, she called me to tell me that the made the reservation and let my husband wait for her at the airport. So my husbank went on September 25th and waited till 5h:00 a.m at Beirut airport but she did not appear. I got a call from a lady shouting and telling that Hiwot is pregnant and will not come back. I tried since that date to call her but the line is somehow not working, her cousin or boyfriend threatned me to kill me. So I kindly ask you to help in this matter, she is not sending me the ticket so i can refund it and the papers so I can delete her from my responsability. Is this the way Ethipian people work with others, is this what the Bible and Jesus tought them to do ?,. She lied to me and made me pay 600 $ for paper renewal and 520 $ for two ways ticket.
