A scam is to trick somebody: to obtain money from somebody by dishonest means. Normally two or more people are involved in a pre-meditated scheme to cheat you out of your money.

This sounds remarkably like one on Lonely Planet and Trip Advisor re: Steve Marshall, a Brit living in Spain. He runs phishing websites with no contracts and after charging clients gives them the runaround, hard/impossible to reach, etc etc. He used to sell real estate there too. Shut down in 2008.

We bought a property from him through Century homes Veliko Tarnova.We paid a deposit It has transpired that the house was already sold and he failed to go through with the sale and there was a charge on the house

There has been a huge amount of complaints about this company so I can not understand how people have continued to invest and lose money? If anyone has made any progress in getting officials involved please flag this up. This is a very dangerous, cynical company.

www.bulgarianrealestate.net is a scam, fraud and deceptive website. The company scams the buyer who then sues the company, it goes bankrupt but since it does not have any assets, buyer cannot be compensated. They are known to have scammed lists of buyers. Owners: Nedyalko Nedelchev and Ivan Kemanov.

bought existing property through this company.relied on their solicitors.Paid a substantial deposit and 1st payment.Now find house was already sold.Owner failed to sell to the 1st buyer and kept his deposit. The 1st buyer put a lean on house + large mortgage arrears and they want us to pay all debts

if you are buying from a site called www.cheap_bulgarian_properties.com. be awawe this man of many names is ripping off a lot of english people. he sells property at inflated prices dont give you the legal documents. often will resale the properties dont listen to his bullshit.

I came across this site by accident. I am glad to see that there are a lot of people that are trying to do something about all of the property fraud that is going on in Bulgaria.
You are not alone in trying to sort out all of the problems that are being encountered.
There is a group that has been formed in Bulgaria that is actively trying to do something positive about the situation. If you are interested in helping to stop what is happeneing to your investments then get in contact with the group known as FAIB (Foreingers Association in Bulgaria)http://www.faib.info

We have been active with regard to the VILLA LORNA case in which the property was sold by a handyman employed by the owner. his property was subsequently sold two further times. This has been covered in NOVINITE NEWS and also covered by the Bulgarian tv news.

We have attended the court hearings in this matter and demonstrated for justice for investors. We have also been able to help owners obtain the proper legal documentation for their properties.

We are also actively campaining against a forged PROMISSORY NOTE for the sum of 500.000 lev, the court hearing for this matter is on the 3rd December 2009 in the central VARNA court. This action has been brought by an individual who is of diminshed responcibilty with no employment and is on a mental disability pension. Does sound as if it might be a scam.

If you want to do something and be proactive join the group, help others to get justice as well as yourself.

We hope to compile a dossier of all of the known scams so that we can petition the government in Sofia for changes in Law to safegaurd our investments from the criminal element.

Dear Mr McLean, I have made contact with Lyndon on the same email address that I first contacted him on in 2005, he says you are also welcome to do the same, he only checks it about once a fortnight so you may have to wait for an answer.
His UK telephone number is also unchanged and he tells me that one of the apartment owners contacted him last year on same to enquire about a Varna hospital. I do not have his Spanish number but, like the email, he checks the UK one semi regularly for messages.

What nasty name calling have I done? My 'friends' (actually they are just owners like myself of apartments in the Zora complex) are victims. You are one of the lucky ones! We now know that we are not the only owners of apartments that Lyndon has done this to. I do ask though, that if you have any contact details for him, Marion or Radina to please pass them on to us. We would all be most grateful.

Dear Ellen and John

You two are unbelievable - firstly the Zora group is an international group of owners who have been completely scammed by Lyndon Sheehan and Roy Withers. They stole our money and left us with an unfinished and illegal building. We have spent many more hundreds of thousands of euros to finish our building collectively to save it from the bulldozers. Some people within our group lost all their money, life savings and also their apartment!!! Chaika (Easyrealty/Lyndon and their other alias)are now being sued by all of us and currently in the court process. None of us are whingeing, we are trying to protect others from the same disaster. If you are having dealings with them you must contact Bulgarian Legal (in Varna) immediately. The Zora group are entitled to know the whereabouts of Lyndon and so please if anybody has any information please, please pass it on.

PS - I am Australian not Scottish!!!!

Has anyone had an experience with a company called DAO Real? We bought a small run-down house in Novo Hodzovo in 2004/5 and a year later some land in Voinika. Each year we were sent a bill for tax registration (250 euros) which we paid. When we wanted to sell the properties, because we realised that we were unable to live in Bulgaria, things seems to go slightly strange. We were put in touch with another solicitor who was able to file the taxes for a much smaller fee. She also had someone interested in looking at the house for sale. She tried to obtain the key then she seemed suddenly to cool off, not returning emails etc. Previously she had been very good at returning them. I'm unsure what's happening. I'm not even sure if we own the properties. Does anyone have the number of an uncorruptable Bulgarian lawyer/conveyor who may be able to do some investigating for us?
