I organized the trip with a travel company in Addis Ababa, the Glory Ethiopia Travel and Tour Plc. (Owner Daniel Damtew and Habte Yitbarek. At first I asked seven Ethiopian tour companies about the price of their regular tours. Some didnt give me an answer, about 4 send me their prices. I made then an itinerary for our trip and asked 3 of them for an offer with these conditions (44 with driver, hotels, guides, trekking). Finally Daniel Damtew gave me by far the best offer and information. So I made the booking by E-mail. And I didnt regret it. Everything worked out very good. They were expecting us at the airport (after the usual delay of 2 hours in the airport); we gave them the money in cash the next day. And the whole trip was well organized, which is not naturally in a country like Ethiopia. The two flights (Addis to Bahir Dar and from Dire Dawa to Addis worked), the Toyota Landcruiser with a good driver who spoke four languages was working, the hotel reservations were o.k., the local guides in Bahir Dar, Gonder, Axum, Lalibela and Harar were reliable; the 3 days-treks to the Simien mountains with a scout, guide and a cook was great, also the visit in the Awash N.P. (staying in the old American caravans) was fun. So I can recommend Glory Ethiopia Travel and Tour Plc. and its owner Daniel Damtew as a small, but very honest company which made a excellent job. Also three persons in Austria, who recommended Daniel to me, made the same positive experiences. It would be nice if you could mention this company as a reliable tour operator in Ethiopia in your next edition. They were very helpful and efficient and Daniel Damtew kept all the promises he made.
