5 Star Room - What is a 5 Star room to me?

The Hotel industry appears to rate a hotel on certain luxury requirements like a swimming pool or ski lift, but than forget to require the minimums.

5 - STAR - MOST LIKELY TO BE MISSING:

  1. I can place my own lock on the door. There is no way for the management to enter.
  2. Reading light on both sides of bed.
  3. A desk and chair at proper level for desk and chair.
  4. Balcony that is NOT accessible by anyone or the neighbors by jumping over the rail or dropping in to inspect.
  5. Messages are taken by telephone or by friends and I am notified.
  6. 20 hangers in a closet.
  7. I look at the mattress and it is new.
  8. I have a full size cabinet or closet that can be locked by my own lock. So I can leave all my valuable inside and allow them to clean the room.
  9. There should be no way to hear your neighbors or sounds from outside the room.
  10. Fitted sheets.

5 - STAR - PROBABLY NOT MISSING

  1. Mirror at level for me to stand and use.
  2. Color TV with remote. Must have CNN - BBC and at least 2 movie channels.
  3. Hot water even in the tropics.
  4.

RANDOM LIST OF OTHER WISHES - Below is the transition into lower levels.

LOCATION - The room should be about 50 meters from street traffic.

THEFT - The room should not be able to be reached by the outside people without having to walk or enter through a gate.
Example: I was in a hotel room in India. It was on the second floor. You could enter to the room from the street up the concrete steps. A person was waiting for the tourist to leave his or her room and go to the toilet. They could quickly run to the room and steal what was in side while the person was inside the toilet.

NUMBER OF PEOPLE IN ROOM - A better hotel is not going to allow more than one person per bed, or two for a double. But a good hotel will not allow 6 people on a double bed.
