Coffee Ceremony Awasa Ethiopia
One of the customs in Ethiopia is to make and drink coffee with friends, if you are invited to a persons house to drink coffee, the answer should be “Yes.” I am still learning how to edit with this new program I am using called VideoPad Video Editor.

This is a girls in Awasa, Ethiopia cooking the coffee beans before she sends to a little boy to grind.

This round piece of molded steel is put on top of a charcoal burner especially made for cooking coffee. They will continually stir the beans as they cook.

After the bean changed color from a light green color to a more dark chocolate or almost burned color she gave them to this little boy. He put in a round grinder type device common in the world, and he more or less smashed the beans.

When I am in the markets here in Ethiopia, I can find all the various items they use to conduct the coffee ceremony being sold.

  • Great post. You should get one of them actually brewing the coffee. There are so many different ways to do it and this is often part of the ceremony.Bob L

  • Hi,

I'm an Ethiopian and was just surfing about Ethiopia and Ethiopians...I'm a blogger too. What caught my eye was that you had to pay 2-8 USD to upload a video. Dude that's just too expensive. In fact, I think you're being robbed. Ask an Ethiopian friend to take you to a cafe he knows.

    One Love !!!
