Guatemala Boy with Heavy Load

Guatemala Boy with Heavy Load
The Mayan people are more than willing to do work, the photos below shows a small boy doing a mans size job. I do not feel sorry for this boy in the least, I feel proud, it is a good day in my life when I see a boy doing a job that needs done.

----------------------------------

The boy needs to first pick up a bundle and place it on the top.

He turns around, puts his back up against the bag, grabs it behind his head, and then shifts the weight forward to change the balance.

Then he quickly scoots into the building, unloads and returns with no hesitation.

This reminds me of going to the farm bureau at age 16-17 to get a load of cattle feed. The first time I tried to move a bag, I said to myself, “this is impossible.” However, with any good work, we accommodate the job, we learn the task, and I became a man.

  • Andy, did you offer to help out?

  • Offering to help the boy out in his job would be insulting. It is his job. I would think he is proud to accomplish it himself. I was at his age and I would have been insulted if someone asked me if I needed help.Bob L

  • Bob, the voice of reason, thanks for the comment. I did not offer to help because it would be an insult, he did not need help. He was doing his job as does many people in Guatemala without a complaint.
