Black and White Tortillas
Guatemala Food

I have been quizzing the local Mayan Tortilla girl that last couple of weeks, finally on the other day somebody answered me. Finding answers to simple questions can take weeks, I tend to believe many of the Mayan Tortilla making girls do not speak Spanish.

This is a black Tortilla; I took this photo in Solola, at the market on Tuesday.

A mixed pile of Tortilla, this is another baffling question, why do they mix them all together, I would think they would put the Whites in the back of the bus.

This is the black and white dough, I finally got an answer on why they are making black and white Tortillas, the black ones are made from Black Kernel corn and the white is made from the Yellow corn.

The make them with separate dough, however as you can see they piled them all together. You can buy four to five Tortillas for one Quetzal, about 15 cents US.
