Best Travel Journals in English of 2008
I am Andy of HoboTraveler.com Travel Journals, I am homeless, I am a perpetual traveler for over 10 years and 79 countries. There are two perspectives, one is from the position of the armchair traveler, and the other is from my perspective the professional traveler.

What is the best Travel Journal of 2008, the truth is I have no idea, I have no favorites, I have not read enough Blogs to make that decision. I do not even like to read my own, I like to travel.

I have made a decision to learn what other travelers are doing this coming year; I am going to make my own list of Best Blogs of 2009. I want to keep the light on in my traveler’s world, I want to smell the roses, and I want to find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. This year I am going to find out what wonders of the planet the other travelers have found, I am going to listen more and talk less.

There are many type of Travel Journals, however there are two major factions, those people who are traveling and those people who talk about travel.

Until next year, here are a few other sites that list the best or top Travel Journals on the planet, there is no agreement between them. All the sites have some good points, many are just copying from others, and all in all these links are good set of links to find some interesting peoples Travel Journal.

NOTE - These Travel Journal have little do with the best on the planet, and a lot to do with the English Language, however a great way to waste a few hours reading some stories and rants.

If I have learned one lesson from travel, English is not the only language on the planet, so take all this best and top Travel Journal stuff with a grain of salt, try to see the world globally.

Nice list indeed!! And agree with your sentiments about *not* all blogs being English (not by a long shot actually!). It's one reason why some of the travel blogging systems allow blogging using any character set (travellerspoint is one). Just hard for us 'roman character' folks to understand :)

Fonts are a huge problem for sites, not sure how Blogger.com is dealing with them. The system here is Blogger, not likely to leave soon, however this reword of site is the first step to us going to our own propretory system.

Alexa is a very important benchmark to determine the rankings and traffic of sites. Google is placed at the 2nd position as per Alexa rankings and traffic rankings and is facing tough competition from Live.com and of course Yahoo.

I love your attitude dude, I'm jealous of the adventures. You are living as one should.If I may I'd like to add another travel blog to your list. It's new and small but it's got a great vibe and has complete personal attention by the webmaster. In other words, it's not a "for profit" travel blog, but a small and growing community.
