A Cheap Blog for Non Profits

Get a blog, collect some money, do nothing and live in another country. I am joking, but many people are doing just that...

I am out and about finding Travel Journals all over the world and I encounter many save the world, hug a tree, save an orphan Blogs. Many are asking for money, many tell weepy stories and want to go to the other side of the planet and solve problems they do not understand.

But…

My guesstimate is that 95 percent of them do not even purchase a domain name. For example, my domain name is HoboTraveler.com. Why is this important, well it shows credibility and a credit card behind the domain. If you a site has a domain, normally you can find the owners name, address and other information.

However, if they do not own a domain, say they have a Blogspot Blog, and then if they want, they can just disappear. I always look for the domain name; this is one test of legitimacy.

My advice, no domain, no money.

  • You can keep your personal information private with a domain name. On all my Domain names my personal information is private, and I do get this for free through my hosting company. I did pay extra with Godaddy, though.

  • Yes you can keep it somewhat anonymous with a Domain, however a Blogspot is totally anonymous in a way. I do not want non governmental organizations to be anonymous. I want anyone collecting money in "Trust" to be open. When someone gives me a donation it is for me, when I give money to a charity it is for good works.
