After the Party go to Koh SiChang
There is a visceral excitement to being on Khao San Road with all the crazy Tattoo, Dreads, and competition to be Freak. Many tourists in Thailand opt to go to Koh Samui, Phuket, Koh Pha Ngan and Pattaya, and realize, wow one Boom Boom Girl Bar after another, or more Freaks from Khao San Road.
What doe a normal person do in Thailand?
I keep thinking this, if a man goes to Pattaya, rents a girl, does he stay in the rental shop? Why don’t they leave and go to anywhere different?

Trust me, as a normal WASP from the USA, Thailand is not the place to find normal people, it is the last place that you should go, the word you should remember is Freak.
However, I have found an Island that is only about two to three hours by bus straight south from Bangkok. I will make my second trip to this Island today, spend a few days in real Thailand and see if I can get the word Freak out of my vocabulary.
I in many ways have become disenchanted with the Human Animal. With each year of travel that passes, after I have taken my wonder of it all glasses, I realize there is little nobility on the planet, but I am still searching. I find more of this stuff in primitive cultures of Africa, or in the Amazon Basin of South America.

Realize it, Andy: you are getting older and Khao Sarn rd (or Ko San Rd, how the Ko Samui freaks call it) is no longer where you should stay.Even Bangkok is 99% freak-free. You just have to leave the freaks to realize it.
