The price of rooms, food, and services has tripled in the last five years.

Had Rin beach is one of the better beaches on the planet, however to have the best quality of life, for the least amount of money on Koh Pha Ngan Island it may be better to leave the tourist area.
All over the planet, the tourist areas in the last 20 years have exploded until the flavor I want to enjoy no longer exist in the primary tourist destination. The increasing better option is to live miles from the main area, and rent a motorcycle or take a taxi to the main beaches.
Here on Koh Pha Ngan there are many resort enclaves all over the Island. A good value, motorcycles rent for 150 Baht per day, therefore I could still go live in paradise and one of the better girl watching beaches on the planet at Had Rin for the day, for less money than I can live in this present day tourist trap.
The total cost of doing this is about one-half the price, and I get a motorcycle to burn my leg on too.
I am on a GPRS cell phone internet connection with One Two Call, which cost about 500 Baht for 240 hours, and the local cost on Koh Pha Ngan is 2-3 Baht per minute or about 120-180 Baht per hour, about 5-7 USD.

The price of food, accomodations, and services has tripled?? Welcome to the world of the ever-declining dollar. I sure would like to have some Euros or pounds right about now. Don't know about you.
I was talking about Baht, the rooms went from 150 to like 450, harder to find a 150 Baht room.
Inflated price has to stay on the same money.
I really have any desire to have Euros, although I guess I have about 200 on me... hehehe
The cost of shampoo is double the price in Europe, the price of anything is double, I do not want to trade with anybody in Europe, they pay through the nose for everything, we pay nothing.
Gas... hehehe, half the price in the USA, anyway you do it.

Andy, Koh Phan Ngan has just about been ruined by the full moon parties etc. Best get ye to Koh Ang Thong or, better still, over toward Krabi, Koh Lanta & Koh Tarutao. On the Eastern seaboard, near Koh Chang, are the beautiful islands of Koh Mak and koh Kood.... d'you know them?
If you're anywhere near jomtien drop by for a cuppa tea 'n' chat!

I know all but Koh Kood, never heard of that, been to all the others including Koh Tarutao in the South, want to visit Koh Lipe.
