I am supposed to check out at 11:00 am this morning, the all night bus from Krabi, Thailand to Bangkok, Thailand leaves at 8:00 pm tonight.
What am I suppose to do with this extra time?

The normal situation is to pay extra to the Hotel for late checkout; this is really just another way of the Hotels endless ways to make money. If the Hotel if full, they will allow the late checkout, collect the money and if someone reserved the room, they will force them to wait.
A better hotel has a free of charge storage room for bags, whereby the bags are safe, this seems to be only in the cheap hotels, too stupid to understand or think about. Why do I always get more services of real value in a cheap hotel, then an expensive hotel?
The Hotels want to say, “Your home away from home.”
The best of the best hotel would have tons of private areas around the hotel starting a Hostel or Hotel. I now realize I must, I just once in my life want to enter a Hotel that does everything right. I do admit, there is no way for a Hotel Owners to learn about Hotels, they do not live in Hotels, they just own them.where people could go and take a nap, a shower, or just live in the hotel until the time to leave arises while their bag is safe in the FREE storage.
I was dwelling on this the other day, all of these problems, I think often about starting a Hostel or Hotel. I now realize I must, I just once in my life want to enter a Hotel that does everything right. I do admit, there is no way for a Hotel Owners to learn about Hotels, they do not live in Hotels, they just own them.
A Hotel is not my home away from home, it is my home, I wonder when one of the Hotel will actually make me feel like I am at home?

I love the question of "what am I supposed to do with all that time?" It's hilarious to think that so many Americans feel like they don't have enough time.
I can't wait to just go! Leave the job, responsibilities, commitments, etc. And just go!
My husband Justin and I leave 09-30-08 and take off on our backpacking adventure. We are planning on going the hobo/budget travel way for about a year or so.

You made me laugh at myself, yes I have an overabundance of time. I have not been busy in over ten years, however, I do have to say, I was never too busy in the USA and I owned my own company and made oodles of cash.
I would say though, if you are busy in the USA, you will be busy traveling. I have always refused to react or try to squeeze in my life. I have a life, but I refuse to squeeze it in, I live it.
I love that andy. Too many people, at the end of their life, complain about not spending their time actually living.
That's a great approach to life! Justin and I are going to enjoy the "non-tourist" approach to travel. We can't wait to stay long enough to know the area, culture, people, etc.
Thanks for the encouragement through your personal lifestyle choices. I am sure we will alter the "squeeze it all in approach" to roll more like you! And just live life. Living life the Andy way!
Living the Andy way...
When I am walking with friend in too big of hurry, I say,
"I spent five years in South America, I cannot live that fast anymore."
However, more correctly, I learned I spent the first half of my life living in an unhealthy and unhappy manner.
There are hotels that "do it right," and you can find them in the most unlikely places.
I stayed at the Hotel Del Rey in Foz do Iguazu, Brazil. I, too, had a night bus and needed to check out at about 11 AM.
Not only did this very nice hotel offer to store my bag safely all day, but they told me, "Before you go on the bus, if you want to take a shower, let us know and you can do that."
Their breakfast was not only an all-you-can-eat buffet, but there were many tasty choices.
In the lobby, they had a posting of their room rates. When I referred to it, the woman at the desk told me that they didn't go by that. The real rate was not DOUBLE the one posted, but HALF!!! What a nice surprise.
Sad that there are not more hotels that get it about the needs of travelers, but when one does, it's a beautiful thing.
