The comment is on this link below, and truly this type of problem is my nightmare waiting to happen, I take great care, only use the ATM machine connected to banks, for sure I do not use the ones in Bar, Restaurants around the planet, no bank attached, no use of ATM.

I want to inform travelers to be very carful using banco pachinca atms in ecuador. I have lost money on 3 different occasions.When I disputed the errors I always got to same answer. The machines were working correctly at the time of my withdrawal.I have only had trouble with that bank. I do not use them anymore.Out 800 bucks, lesson learned.

Try contacting your own bank back home. I had a problem with a cash machine at Banco del Pichincha, in Quito. They told me that the procedure was for me to ask my bank to contact them. I did, and sure enough, my bank refunded me the money a few weeks later. Good luck!Banco del Pichincha is generally one of the best banks in Ecuador and I still use their cash machines.Happy travelling!SarahEcuador Travel Site .org
