Low Water in Amazon River Tour Problem

Low Water in Amazon River Tour Problem
As best I understand the water on the Amazon, Ucayali and all the headwater and tributaries are now receding. I wish to fly upriver on the Rio Yurua in the Department of Ucayali, Peru, then paddle and float downriver during high season to the Village of Breu whereby I would fly back to Pucallpa, Peru.

This trip is bereft with danger and problems. The anticipation of problems and timing are not strong skill sets of Peruvian people, this is more along the lines of Germans.

Anyway, I do it; the best time to navigate this river is during the months of January or February. The collection of information for this trip will take at least one month of preparations, not full time, yet daily collecting of equipment needed.

The cost of airfares is raising rapidly, the cost to return here in six months will be close to 1500 U.S. dollars minimum from wherever I am on the planet.
Money, travel is always about money, the blocker in the way.

Andy you could return to Peru next winter for a lot less than $1500 if you'ld travel overland from the US.
Energy=.5 * Mass * Velocity squared. So as you increase speed the energy consumed increases literally exponentially. In these days of high oil prices (talk of oil going over $250USD per barrel if the bush adminst. invades Iran), you can save a lot of energy=money by travelling slower overland. I did a trip from the Midwest to Panama last year for about $250.

I have already did the trip by land, and you are correct it would be cheaper.

I am saving my bus time energy for Africa, maybe from Morroco to Cote D'Ivoire by land.
