Find a Travel Doctor

Find a Travel Doctor
There is no doctor, I am traveling. I am going today to a Laboratory and to a second Medico /Doctor here in Panajachel, Guatemala. I also am going to give them urine, blood, and have what I hope is a complete set of test run to see if they can clarify my problem.

Briefly as I can make it, I have an intermittent pain below my right side ribs, mostly towards my lower back, and sometimes towards the front, sometimes feels like in the lower part of intestines. I am sometimes nauseas, passed out one time, and have 150/100 blood pressure.

I have went to two Doctors now, one in Antigua and another on the internet, so far, I trust the one on the internet better.

It spoke English…

The Antigua Doctor was good on the blood pressure, not sure the side pain hit her brain.

YourDiagnosis.com gave me the report listed below, and then I went to Wiki and it explained.
http://en.wikipedia.org/

This is not a replacement for a Doctor, but I feel I am hedging my best, and in the end I am responsible for choosing or finding someone smart enough to diagnose my medical problem.

I had my blood pressure checked by the Doctor in Antigua, was very dizzy for a few days, and sleeping a lot, or lying down too much. She gave me this medicine 50 mg of Atenolol to take one time per day for high blood pressure. I am more or less sure my blood pressure is going down as I stopped many bad problem behaviors, mostly the coffee and eating potato chips.

However, 4:38 am, I just filled out about one hours of questions on the internet with what I think is a very good website that speaks English considering I do not think I can say the words to explain my medical conditions properly.

My Travel Doctor
http://www.yourdiagnosis.com/

I would say this was excellent, extremely thorough, really asked many questions; I had to click on where it hurt, I qualified he types of problems and it collected my medical history and stores it. I was also now able to send to my friend Jeff who is a real Doctor to help me work through the possible problems.

I know all this stuff is serious, but you have to think,
- What is the worst that can happen? -
Answer:
- I die. -

Then I say,
- Thanks, I had a good run, I did my best, life was good. -

I have to admit, it will take more willpower, and guts for me to go this laboratory and have all the crap ran than for me to go to Iraq, send me the plane ticket and I will go to Iraq quicker. I sadly have avoided this lab test for about two weeks now, procrastination.

WHO EXPLAIN THESE WORDS TO ME? Wikipedia.org

It says I may have three things. I am going to the laboratory today to give urine and blood.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyelonephritis
or
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diverticulosis
Kidney Stones
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kidney_stone

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anemia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vasovagal_syncope

Note, I was not able to explain my two case of maybe either Malaria or Food Poisoning in Africa, or my malnutrition on leaving India, going through Nepal, into Tibet, where in the end I got a boil and treated in Lhasa, Tibet. Learning to not pass the orange juice, take my vitamins and eat plenty of vegetables, fruits, meats, etc has alleviated most of that problem.

At the end, I was able to send the report to my Pharmacy frind in Thailand and my Doctor friend Jeff who I think is in Peru right now.

The site was set up good, and I think maybe an excellent use of Flash, which is hard to find, maps are pretty good, but mostly just junk.

Thanks to YourDiagnosis.com. I am feeling more confident someone is listening. The truth is 99.99 percent of people just go home when they have a problem when traveling.

Hi Andy,
that really sucks that you are so sick. I hate when I have to get tests. They always just come back and say that there is nothing wrong with me...and I think, why, then, do I feel so crappy? These doctor people should know a little more than they do sometimes...I got really sick when I came back to Antigua last week and wade had to take care of me. I had a fever. I went to the pharmacy and they tried to give me cipro. I told them that wouldn't work for a fever. They didn't know what to give me...
anyway, I tried signing up for a hobo name and it won't let me create a profile or look at anything...maybe you are working on the problem...maybe i just need help...
Hope you feel better!

I went today for test, I am now waiting two hours, I know latinos, I will wait three and go back.

The doctor did not speak English, really could not understand my ailments. Wanted test for heart problems and I believe they do not fix hearts, she wanted Urine. I told the lady at the lab.
"Todos"
All, I want all things tested, overkills are great in the USA and doing nothing or less than needed is the rest of the planet.

My strategy is this, I am going to pay 100 dollars and get test at few places and talk to man doctors until I feel satisfied.

The doctors here are about the same brains as the USA, just do not do a perfect thought. However, the luxury of having three or four doctors is great, a real wonderful experience.

20 Q to 50 Q per consultation, or 3 to 8 dollars per doctor... hehehe

I am responsible to trust one them, I will interview by consultation until I can see the brains coming out their eyeballs.

Hey Andy,
Hang in there buddy. Sounds like you are doing the right thing. I'm sure the doctors can find the problem. You might be better in Guatemala City for more modern facilities? Our prayers are with you and wishing you a speedy recovery.

I got back urine and blood test. The lab women more or less asked,
- Why did you need a test, you are in great health.-

I said,
- Then why does my side bubble and burn..?-

She says,
Maybe... Popo

I now take a plastic jar of the stool thing, she is saying Parasites or talking Spanish.

I guess I am healthy, I think something is kicking up the blood pressure. I do not have AIDs, did not think I did, but always good to hear when the world keeps telling fantasy stats and I just spent a year in the area of the fantasy stats.

I am testing food now, started two days ago on bread, next day added Bananas and Granola, today I added eggs and ham and olives.

I am going to try the big hunk of cheese, the last time I ate cheese, the next day I was lying in bed burning.

The doctors are cheap here, 3-5 dollars, and the medicine cost more, and the last more yet.
230 Q for the Urine and Blood, 20 for the Popo. 20-50 for the doctors, the problem so far is the doctors never seem to be working.

I may go get the three test at another lab in Antigua or Quetzaltenango or however you spell it.

I still think the online Doctor understoon my explanations better than a live one. I am trying to find where to get the test now, I do not think I need a very good prescription, I can use this one from Antigua, and the allow any test I want done.

I have a good friend that is a pharmacist. I asked, what is the cure for Parasite, sometimes the cure is simpler to find than the test.

Andy,
I don't know what to think. Passing out and high blood pressure does not sound right. I'd say go and get the tests again. If your heart is racing or pulse is not right, I would be concerned. But you know your body the best. If you feel better then I would not worry about it. I would think if you had parasites, you would have severe diarrhea, vomiting and chills. Well hope it was just some bad food and you are bouncing back. Find some good chicken noodle soup and get some more rest.

Take care,
Scott
