In many countries of the Latino world, they call this El Lagartos, in English, we say Alligator, and it is not a Crocodile, which is different.

I was walking down that concrete ramp behind this girl who I thought was selling shrimp, fish and other smelly things in the Market of Panajachel, Guatemala on Lago Atitlan.

I see these plates, maybe scales, maybe something, it reminded me of an Alligator, so I needed to go and inspect this out.

Alligator meat for sale in Panajachel, 30 Quetzals per pound, I guess about 3.50 U.S. Dollars per pound, as best I understand this is already precooked and just needs heated to be served. (2008)
I like markets, there is a continuous supply of surprises in a local market as they search for anything and everything to sell. This is Guatemala, I am not sure about all the textiles they sell to tourist.
