Getting in Physical Condition for Travel

Getting in Physical Condition for Travel
I need to be strong enough to travel, I need to be in good enough physical condition to carry two backpack weighing 35-45 Kilos or 77-99 pounds of total weight. Then another 5-10 Kilos of computer bag, with camera, heavy things as a carry one.

I am normally carry almost the same weight as the Soldiers in Iraq,

A “Full Combat Load

“According to a Naval Research Advisory Committee report, the average Marine carries 97 to 135 pounds in combat loads”

I carried 70-80 Kilos or 154-170 pounds back to the USA from BKK. I brought home the weight of a second person in baggage.

AIRPORT CHECK-IN
I was checking in with Asiana Airlines, looked down to my left at the little red scales light on the counter. It reads 34 Kilos, I try to change the subject and be nice; I think I am 4 kilos overweight.

This is one bag, I have two bags. I was checking in 65 Kilos.

Normally I can carry about 40 Kilos of weight on plane, I use 2 pound per kilo as quick calculations, therefore I would normally carry 80 pounds, and the number is 2.2 pounds.

Flight going to the USA will often allow 60 kilos, this is why I took Asiana and had a 12-hour layover in Korea, and I wanted the extra 20 Kilos of weight. To ship the 20 kilos homes would have cost at least 12 dollars per kilo or about 240 US dollars to ship home. By upping the load, I was able to haul home a lot of stuff in storage in the Sawasdee Smile Hotel storage room.

As a rule of thumb, a 40-liter bag will carry about 20 kilos, so

BOOK PEOPLE - People that carry books
2 liters of volume is 1 Kilo of weight.

CLOTHES PEOPLE - People that really only carry clothes
3 liters of volume is 1 Kilo of weight.

Two-Three months of computer work in BKK and Manila and I am weak. My body has lost muscle, and carrying around another person on my back was a little too much.

Ok, what is all this post about, a very complicated set of excuses and a way to say,
“My Back Hurts”
“I picked up too much weight and hurt my back.”

The extra 20 kilos was over full combat load.

Interesting conversion amounts, I especially liked how you converted volume to weight depending on whether the person was a 'book person' or not. Having just moved our VERY bookish household, I'd venture to say that perhaps you're estimating a little on the low side for weight there.
Thanks as always for the great stuff!
