What is Fair Pay for Internet Photos A statement posted in the Help Center of HoboTraveler.com makes me as the question. - Is there any internet site that pays for photos? -
Question from Reader: I think he is angry about this page? Photographer Wanted

Name: max EMail: max@hotmail.com Country: USA
Message: why don't you pay a fair amount for your photos. Your site would be boring without them. Fair point about difference between magazine and internet but that is a lame reason to rip off your contributors. x

Answer:
I see the size of cameras; I see the investment made by average people on the planet in cameras. Daily, I see cameras that cost over 2000 U.S. Dollars as I walk around the streets of Bangkok, Thailand.
I recently wrote a post about being a Photographer. I compared being a photographer to winning the lottery. http://www.hobotraveler.com/2008/02/famous-photographer-lottery.html
I am tempted to be sarcastic about the anonymous person that wrote me.
However, take this photo above; I consider it one of the best photos I have ever taken. I personally took this photo in Benin, West Africa, in the small city of Natitingou Benin on Wednesday, September 27, 2006.
Benin Ethic Groups
Go to Kayak.com and price round trip ticket to Cotonou, Benin: Kayak.com
Chicago to Cotonou Wed 11 Jun 2008 – Wed 2 Jul 2008 1782 U.S. Dollars
If someone can tell me how to get paid 1782 US Dollars for this photo, I would love to sell it.
Maybe I should take it as a compliment this person wants to sell photographs to me, however in a way, I think they should be sending mean mail to Flickr.com, YouTube.com or Travelblogs.com etc. I was offering to pay; these sites are convincing you they are doing you a favor to have you make them money. Photographer Wanted
When I figure out how I am to make money taking photos and putting up on the internet, I will probably pass on 100 percent of what I earn to the photographer.
I do wish to Thank Eric for making some maps, these are truly of value, I asked him about how to pay, the value of them and he rufused. This is work, I truly know that many of my photos are just being in the right place at the right time.

Andy,
You are more than welcome.
You give us all great travel information and tips for free right here in real time. A few maps for your site is the least I can do to say thanks in return.
I also know this; since we have become online friends, I know I can email you with a travel question and you'd answer without hesitation and without charge. It would also be coming from a source with deep first hand knowledge of world travel and free of any BS as well.
It's a win-win.
I don't rely on making maps for income, but I do understand if a photographer is trying to make a go of it with his/her creative talent. I guess the value of anything is what someone is willing to pay for it.
That photo of the Benin girl is excellent by the way.

Funny! Andy has always refused to take money from me as it offends his principles. Also he doesn't rag on others from lurid porn sites, like upyours.com.

That is a real site? Hmm, interesting, I never clicked on the upyours.
However, the question to me was posed, what is the true and correct price to pay for a photo I use on a page.
