Highly Ineffective People

We need a fun book on this.

No high powered, effective businessperson is going to very happy working for a save-the-planet, do everything wrong NGO or ONG. The Non Governmental Organizations and the United Nations and such are so full of highly ineffective and non-solution producing individuals that not self-respecting producing person would be associated.

There is a book called,
- The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Personal Workbook
- By: Covey, Stephen R.

There is also a book called the - One Minute Manager, by someone, and somewhere, but more or less about effective and quick goal setting for workers.

I have read both, and now think we need the opposite books, how to do the opposite for good fun, with cartoons, graphics and fun laugh at ourselves, and cry explanations.

- The 7 Habits of Highly In-Effective People
or maybe.
- The 7 Habits of Highly NON-Effective People

The One Minute Mis-Manager.
(It may already exist.)

Ok, I am one of the worst motivators and managers, I know this, I micromanage every worker, and then moralize until they quit, I need a book on how to effectively ignore and over-look, not see any problems by workers.

However, the telling a person how to be effective can sometimes be achieve by telling them in a book, non-threatening, not pointing the finger way, you are doing this.

I cannot find the list of the 7 habits of effective people now, easy and quickly, or I would list them, however, the concepts of books are simple and as is common with good solutions, the are common sense and easy to understand and evade 99 percent of people, so they need books to read and not internalize. We put on a shelf and pretend this is us.

I have been musing and laughing, there is a good case study to done in Africa, and easy to accomplish because of the high ratio of ONG-NGO people in the White Population here. I can find a project worker with extreme ease that is highly ineffective.

Therefore to study and muse about how to be in-effective is easy to study.

How to do every-thing wrong, I can write a book, because the people who demonstrate how to be highly ineffective are here. Then I have to do this big search to find who has already written the book.

Somewhere, I wish to be more effective at having all the answers to my questions readily available. I think a highly effective person can collect, find, and retrieve notes, ideas an answers at warp speed.

(Note - think, try to really think, I am in Africa, and I am doing this, I write in riddles.)

While for a high ineffective person, they do not even get close to the root problems of a complicated question.

To solve AIDS, we need to test all the people, to discover first who has, there has never been a problem that is so easy to solve. If it were really an epidemic or pandemic, we would be testing everyone.

Highly ineffective people give complicated solutions… Hehehe

Like anything I, type above was simple.

Note, Hotels need maintenance people; the simple solution to effectively managing a Hotel is to focus on maintenance, and the cleaning of the toilet become easy because they have water to clean.

This is to focus on the root problem and be effective, or you can bring in carry water around the hotel, and the water is dirty because of the extremely ineffective work methods.

The job of management is not to manage people, it is to remove the obstacle of production. To Ease on down the road, not to push on down the road.

  • Hey Andy,Its seems all we hear in the USA is how bad aids is in Africa. I just read that aids kills 6000 people per day in Africa and that 9.8 million people carry the HIV virus. Do you see any signs of the aids problems. Like clinics that all these people are dying at. Is the problem hidden from the public or is it bad in a certain part of Africa? Can you find a clinic near you and post some pics of the clinic. I also read that a lot of children are orphans now, because their parents are dead. Have you come across any orphanages? If we are spending all these billions of dollars on the problem. Is it just a scam and some fat cat is pocketing all the money. Maybe Walmart is the answer to all problems in Africa. Cheap food and cheap drugs. Scott

  • This is the million dollar question, maybe the billion dollar question.Where are the dying people?Where are the clinics?I have spent now as of April 2007 about five months of my life traveling around in West Africa as the sum total of three trips.I have never seen a person who was dying from AIDS.I have seen many children abandoned by mothers with their mothers of family in the small villages so they could go to the city to work selling their bodies to men. (I cannot say the word or causes problems with search engines.)BUT.. BUT... just because I do not see something, does not prove it is not here.I have seen sign for orphanages by the ONG or NGO and they are empty or the directors are gone. As if there was established one, took the photos and left. Most of the offices of NGO are empty most of the time and hard to find the Gerer, Directeur or Managers in English.I am not a shy person, I walk into these place and am willing to take the onslaught of wanting money from me, this is a reason to not enter. I become a target of people to request money.I have seen malnutrition clincs in Niger by the Doctors without Borders, and many organizations when I went there at the big hype time.I think to ascertain the truth. I need to search on the internet for clues of Red Cross or Rouge Croix or however you spell in French and the Medicines Sans Frontiers until I find offices in Togo, Benin, or any country where there is a statistic and go to the offices to try to access.I then also need to stop into small clinics and ask.I have a Friend Michael from Ghana that for some quirk of life has developed an idea of super honesty and really despises when there is injustice. It is partly because him listening to the BBC a organization that I complain about often, however Michael listend to the BBC on the radio and learns about the concepts of injustice, and had a more clear idea of justice and injustice. He is going with me to look at Cacoa, if I took this person for issues like this, he can super speed me to the locations where it would or would not be.The risk of having a translator and in 99 percent of the time when I have any help by translators, they start to put words in my mouth, and work totally against the goal.A normal translator help in Africa would try to 500 percent exaggerate the problem so I would give money to his friends. The steer me, Michael is from Ghana and does not do this, but he has no big love for Togo, he loves Ghana, not Togo. But as a translator he speaks Mina, the local language and French. Amazing aptitude to learn languages here in Africa.I am going to see and think when I go on my Cacao expedition. I have the money and could afford to pay for him to travel with me. The cost would be about 10-20 US extra per day, then about 10 would be his daily pay, and would probably be twice his normal pay.The stats to me are impossibly difficult to access on AIDS, and i think I am one the most qualified persons on the earth to know.I have had more people try to ask me for money than you could imagine. I know every way they maneuver me than about anybody on the planet and can separate.I think 95 percent of statistics come from the country self-reporting, or the NGO-ONG reports. In the event this is true, I would believe they are 10 times to 20 times too high. The reason I suspect and believe this from experience on the level of exageration of problems. People will exaggerated 10 time what is true or 20 times.Or they will ask for 20 times the amount of money they really need for one specific problem. If Ghana, Togo, Benin, Ivory Coast, Niger came to the United Nations or the USA and asked for money, they would ask for about three times the amount they think we would give. Then hope to land at about 1/3 or the amount they believe we will pay. This is NOT the amount they need, it is the 3 times the amount they believe we WOULD donate.Beggars ask for the amount of money they believe they can get away with, not the need.Women ask me for a portable or cell phone here, only in Africa has girls asked me to give them what would be about 3 months wages for them. Africa people ask me to daily give amazing amounts of money.Contrary to any understanding a culture starts at the bottom and goes up, and the people at the bottom define how the top are, because the bottom are the the denominator that defines or represents the top.If you are being cheated by the street vendors, then for sure the government will cheat you.But to evaluate, there has to be a lot of interaction and close to imposiblle to meter or measure.I live and breath as part of my expectaions and pre-conceived notions of life. I am being stripped of my American pre-conceived ideas and slowly being replaced by something closer to the reality. The Europeans are always angry with the Americans because they consider the normal person naive about their culture, I am supposed to understand and know and love Europe culture. They do not know Indiana culture, so I counter this crap by asking them questions about Indiana.I am thinking about paying Michaels to travel with me to maybe question a couple of problems like AIDS or Malnutrition.I would ask him to help me find the clinics and set up some standard of measurement. Not a simple task, and for sure I would not even consider listening to the statistics by the doctors, unless they are in a iist or written down and I can go and see dates and times, etc. Opinions I feel and believe wouuld be 10 times the reality, it is a cultural thing.I do not know, and I will continue to say, I do not know. I suspect and am under the sincere feeling and belief that the AIS problem on the planet is exaggerated 10-50 times reality.IF for instance it was in a village at a rate of 30 percent. I do not think it possible to not see onee person who is not dying from AIDS. If people get extremely skinny, my stereotype of AIDS people, then I do not see them.I have seen Babies in Niger with Malnutrition that looked this way.Like I said, a Million or Billion dollar question.A project is a business, a church is a business, a mosque is a business. The business is saying or doing this so money comes in as donations.

  • I think to have fun, maybe better to do the book on characteristics of highly ineffective people... heheheThis is not a heart wrenching place to be, I would say some parts of Guatemala or even Peru can be this as drinking alcohol or maimeed individuals from Cars in India.Old, old people with no retirement, this is sad.

  • Thanks for the informative reply Andy. Sounds like a good idea to have Michael travel with you. Might speed up some discoveries? I would have to agree with you on the problem of aids has been exaggerated. Maybe it will all become clearer in the months to come on your travels in Africa. Thanks for the information.
