Where Will You Send Me
My Travel Writer Game
I have this game I play.
There is often or most of the time a line to fill in on the form to check into a hotel or hostel.
It ask:
What is your profession?
I normally put down Writer.
It used to scare me to put this word, not I am having fun and it a game. I could put down - President of the United States - most hostels or hotels would not read it, therefore not important.
I will sometimes write the name of an actual major guidebook, saying:
- X Guidebook Writer -
I guess the game is to see how well the world pays attention. I can honestly say, in 9 years I had only one person actually jump on this and start quizzing me a lot. He then offered me a free room, made my life very nice for a week. I did not take the free room, however it was nice to have special care.
I would call this some type of survey or Rat Lab test, I am testing how well Hotels qualify the persons that enter the Hotel.
I also ask many hotel about the Lonely Planet Guidebooks, or the Roughguide or Footprints or Lets go, etc. I want to know how they know they are being visited by a guidebook writer.
As best I can tell a guidebook writer walks into a hotel and says,
- I am a guidebook writer for X -
Then sells the Hotel on some idea of something, I believe, I am not sure, that most of them trade off special perks for nice comments. The get their pay in many ways other than actual money.
Sadly it pretty obvious that many of the guidebooks are not even sending out writers anymore, only to open up a new book area.
If you want to review a hotel, to me a person has to enter as a bum, with a lot of money. It always has to be obvious to an owner that you have the money to pay for a room. However, I like to see how a hotel treat the bums, not how they treat the people that think they are rich.
A very good hotel will treat everyone across the board the same. There is not profiling as you would thing, in reality most hotels have extreme profiling.
The only thing that really matters to the hotel is money.
To have fun, walk into a hotel, write down
- Blah Blah Guidebook Writers -
Do not tell the, see if they even notice.
What is fun is this, I can tell a person many things, I can say, I have one the world largest travel blogs, strangely this does not even elicit a glance. I suppose they believe everyone lies. You really have to put on an aura of being someone to be taken serious, I personally am just playing a game. I do not want them to pay attention and if they did, I would leave.
Selling yourself is so important in life, the normal person has to be overwhelmed with you in a personal and charismatic way. You have to hand them a business, card, announce how you are important, then sell them on this idea.
Life is a daily game, fun, enjoyable and a very self centered world.
A Whore House Has Bouncers
I am in the Yellow Submarine Hostel in Budapest Hungary, It is about 5:52 AM in the morning, my bodies clock is mixed up, so difficult to sleep.
I am not sure what I ever think about Europe, it is not fair to see or think of Europe as represented by Hostels. I do know that there is a part of society most people pay any amount of money to avoid, they are afraid, therefore they must pay. I meet everyone around me, say hello, shake their hands, try to learn their names and who and where they are from.
WHAT IS HAPPENING AT THIS MOMENT?
I left the dorm because some Irish guy is trying to have sex with some Thailand girl in the top bunk of a room that has 12 people sleeping in it, he seems to believe he is a stud.
Some girl just walked out in her underwear and asked me if the Trolleys were running. I said,
- I can hear them, I would think they are -
They actually feel like some small earthquake you would feel in Central America as the building wobbles and vibrates here on the third floor of some nowhere building that reminds me of a movie where in the Ghetto people get shot in the stairway.
I try to get a feel for why I have problems with Europe, I think it is this, it is not ever clear why a place makes you not feel good.
I think it is always something to do with attitude.
The owner of the Hostel, some second generation Croatian, born in the USA, worked as a Police officer in the New York city fits in perfect.
It is the
- Why would I care -
Attitude
The second attitude is
- You should be happy to pay this amount of money -
I would call the owner Corino a Hillbilly cop, born in the Streets of New York, had a choice between being a small short man in control of crime or being a small short man in control by being a policeman and chose to be a policeman. He got what he wanted, he gets to be a big man in a small world.
Now he runs a Hostel, as best I can tell the Hostel has had nobody managing the place or supervising the last two nights. The desert the place, and then the place is ran by whoever wants to be arrogant.
Two attitudes
- Why would I care -
- You should be happy to pay this amount of money -
People would think
- Just move Hostel -
I know almost 90 percent of the Hostels I have lived in Europe are some variation of this place. Plus you need a reservation
The Radisson Hotel is just across the street, I could move there, then I would maybe have great living conditions, pay too much, live in a ghetto, and not meet a person. This is not a Ghetto, however to me, the building I live in seems like a Ghetto. There is no light as I climb the three flights of concrete, very dirty, winding stairways to the third floor. There are enough bars on each apartment entrance, that you would think it was a jail. It is obvious there is a crime problem, nobody pay that much money for steel bars for no reason.
WHAT WILL PEOPLE PUT UP WITH
I think the problem is everyone is willing to look the other way, the 4 very drunk Irish boys are looking for a fight. They are abusive people, arrogant and do not mind causing problems. Most of the other travelers are in some stage of being the same as the 4 Drunk Irish boys, they on any given night could be the abuser, therefore they feel it is ok. I personally just want a bouncer in this Whorehouse.
Everywhere on the planet is exactly the same, there are older and younger person trying to abuse the system. Extracting their vengeance on the world. They know they are weak, powerless, and cannot control their bowels. Half way control the world, therefore they go searching for people to abuse.
However in some countries you have bouncers, security cops, full time staff that are there to help stop the problem. Corino has chosen to just do nothing and leave, let the person abuse the world.
You would think, why would a person do this, because he is making about 600 USA Dollars a night, he will make it whether he is good or bad. The longest anyone stays in a Hostel is about 4 days, 2 days is max, they are not in the place long enough to get a good hate for the owner going, plus Hostelworld.com has set up a strategy for the Backpackers of Europe. Rate the best party Hostel, therefore the Yellow Submarine would be a good party Hostel. Do anything you like, there is no management here, you will only stay two nights, therefore.
- Why would I care -
Thailand is not different, however you do have policemen and guards that will throw you out, plus everyone has a single room therefore the natural desire of men and women to have sex is possible, without causing a problem.
TYRANNY
I am trying to think of the world. Most of the time in Europe of heavy tourist zones I feel like a Cow, I am corralled into a corner where I must just drink and be happy. I do not drink, therefore I am not happy. It is easier to keep people either stupid or drunk.
I think in a Dictatorship or when there were kings, they told the people to behave, give them money. But the noble class did not live with the people, therefore they just let the cows do as they please. Now you have many cows learning how to be the boss.
What exacerbates this is a city, a city is always more chaotic than a country village. I am sure there are great places in Hungary where people say hello, I highly doubt it is in any city. I am wondering if I could or should in my mind have a rating system. I think Budapest is burnt.
- Tourist Burn t-
France is fried
- Tourist Fried -
How emotionally angry at the tourist is the city?
There is a correct way to travel in every country and place, it is not always as a backpacker. I say on man occasion, I would love to go to New York City on a 500 U.S. Dollar a day budget.
It is easy to buy a smile from the reception desk when you are paying top dollar. This is the value of a 5 Star Hotel, you get to buy a smile and a way to avoid the rabble in the street, never see the normal country and leave with a smile on your face. If you need some friends, just pay large and some girl will always like you.
I have been to Europe enough times, this is it, I am not coming back until I can buy a Van and travel around. It is time I learned my lesson, this place is torture when I cannot leave the cities.
Actually it is hard to think of any reason to return. People think you have to go visit a place. Most people do not visit anywhere, therefore it is obvious, you do not have to visit anywhere, you can stay at home.
There is nothing more special about Europe than South America or Asia, or Africa, they are all the same, there is always a way to enjoy the travel, it is fining this path that is the problem.
I mostly think the world is racist, they want to go see white people, therefore they must go to Europe, the only true value of a person is for a White person. I do not like some cultures, I could care less what color they are.
I was feeling sad for the Two Thailand girls here in the Hostel, the one left, the other is being abused mentally in the top bunk of my dorm room. The Thai girl may have some idea this White boy is special, he is young, has a good passport, and maybe he actually like her. She is wrong, he is the room trying to show off to the whole room he has some girl in the room.
Generally it is my opinion that Thai girls in Europe are either first of second generation prostitutes. Maybe their mother convinced some Hungarian man she love him, he love here and she would obey for the rest her life. They come, they do not speak the language, they are powerless, have only one thing the persons in the country wantS E X
She uses what she knows works, has a ridiculous idea that the Europeans or USA, or any so-called Western place is highly developed. How can she debate, she comes from a poor country. Rich people are better.
I would consider most of Europe on the same social status as Thailand. England, German and the Scandinavian countries are more first world. The other are of the same class level as Thailand.
What they sell in Thailand is a business, they are not just sitting back, they are very smart about how they sell what they sell.
Sad, there is a second nice girl moving out of the Hostel. I feel like I am in some Fraternity party.
The dorm or hostel life would be very analogous to a Fraternity in the USA. They get very drunk, try to invite people under nebulous reasons over, they get very drunk, try to have S E X with all the girls. Think because they live in the Fraternity they are special, are totally clueless that you can not join something and become special. You cannot pay enough money to be special.
First class seats on an Airplane does not mean a person is special, it just means they are willing to pay for extra comfort. This seems to be a very confusing point for poor people, or the factory workers of the planet, They are convinced, IF they had money, they would be special.
IF I lived in the Radisson across the street, I would have a nice room, a TV, and people that are paid a lot of money to say hello to me at the reception desk. I probably would not meet anyone by accident or by design, I would have a comfortable room. Now, I like people, good or bad, these are youth, scary, they are the future of the planet. However, some will steer clear, pave a way, find a path, be pretty good mothers and fathers. I am not sure about these 4 Irish boys, I think they have a lot of pride in the fact that they can get very drunk. I am not sure, maybe there is a pride to prove how much you can drink.
It is our future.
I am positive I am in control of my world, I am able to leave, depart, say Adios to any negative situation.
I suppose I could spell check this, I think not,
- Why would I care -
I keep trying to tell myself, this is my diary, this is my diary, ignore comments, do not pay attention to the world. It is therapeutic to talk to yourself, plus enlightening to write down what your really think and believe.

Rain and Gloom in Budapest Hungary
It is rainy, cold, sort of miserable, you want to hold yourself as you walk down the street, I am here too early in the Spring it seems, it may break soon. I will soon head south toward Remain as soon as I figure out the Visa situation. I suppose I could be an illegal immigrant like in the USA, however in most countries they will throw me in jail...
I am in Budapest Hungary, staying in some Hostel called the Yellow Submarine, ok, it needs some couches, I am sitting on a picnic table typing this, it has a free kitchen for the guest and as best I can tell is in the middle of the city.
Yossi and Avraham
This is Yossi and Avraham
Yossi and Avraham, Yossi on the left and Avraham on the right, this is their spelling, not mine.
I was sitting in the John F Kennedy Airport in New York City waiting for my Lufthansa plane to leave. In walks a group with these big hats. My first thought was,
- More Amish Traveling by Plane -
Then I keep looking, the pants were not correct, there was the start of a little curls on the side of the boys sideburns. This just was not Amish, however they had the little caps, and I associated normally with Jewish people; however, the Arabs and the Rap Singers seem to wear them also.
I ask him,
- Where are you going? -
They as best I understand, were going to Mexico City to celebrate Passover.
Yeseph or Yossi, I guess Yossi is a nickname is an intense young man of 14, empowered by a belief; he is or could be intimidating. I considered him very interesting, extremely intelligent, and young and full of energy.
I was trying to learn more about the Chabad, as there are numerous places on the planet called the - Chabad Houses - where Israeli person congregate to all wear their hats and eat kosher foods.
He said he was Lubavitch, not good at spelling it though, his focus stayed on the goal.
613 PLUS RULES
He says they adhere to about 613 Plus rules and the Rabbis can make more under certain conditions. I tried to get him a little into the easy argument of Christianity, where all you have to do is ask for forgiveness and you were done, of course, you have to be repentant, serious and real.
Judaism and Islamic religions have may rule, to me this is cause of the terrorist in the world as may person live in an overwhelming and constant state of guilt. I see them as wanting to destroy the temptations they cannot stop in their lives.
Oh well, I tried my best to instruct a little and say, to explain something and not to tell something. This boys brains were seeping out the edges of his hat. The lesser intelligent persons are always angry with the person they do not understand.
I will continue the conversation with the Israeli girls in Thailand on my next visit, always a good spin to use.
Yossi has a web site, I have not been able to view it yet, however here it is, and I am hoping it works

JFK Airport New York
Monday April 10, 2006, 2:23 PM
I am in the JFK Airport waiting for the Lufthansa Airplane to leave; I have about three more hours until it leaves.
There is a pay to play Wifi here for 6.95 per 24 hours period. This is actually a good deal and I can get the per hour prices down to two or less dollars per hour. However, my battery will only last maybe one hour and I am down. Electricity is not easy to find in most Airports
I have been thinking though, I am in some ways less productive when I have a full time connection. It makes me prone to playing and surfing. I actually believe I am healthier when there is not a connection in my room. I get more exercise, walk more and am more sociable. I would like to have about 5 days per month when I have a connection in my room.

I Depart USA on March 10 2006
I am leaving the USA on March 10, 2006 at about 5 PM; I will enter Germany on March 11.
I cannot find a departure point in the JFK Airport, or do not understand when they will give me an exit stamp. I never really pay attention in Airports; I just stand in line and wait. However, this time I am noticing, I am at the gate, waiting for it to board. I have gone through the metal detectors and such.
My gut tells me this is a loosey goosey Airport and security is not very good. Then again it does not seem to be managed by Americans, mostly Dominicans and Haitians.
I Depart USA on March 10 2006
Andover New Jersey to JFK Airport New York
They have this big sign that tells you how long the wait it to cross the Washington Bridge. I was in line for about 45 minutes. It took over 3.5 hours to go about 60 miles. I am surprised, there is no sign directing a person to the Airports, until you are about 3 miles from the Airport. I thought they would be everywhere and did not read the map very good.

Map of Hungary
I leave today the 10th of April for Budapest Hungary, I am trying to enter or visit many of the Eastern Europe countries before they become part of the European Union.

Map of European Union
A confusion, however in the end, the bottom line is to go to countries not using the Euro for money. Every time a country enters the European Union and starts using the Euro, they appear to use this as an excuse for extreme currency change. I look at it as gouging, however it is a balancing act or poor countries becoming the same as the rich countries.

Margaritaville
I was listening to Jimmy Buffet sing the song Margaritaville on the radio. I misunderstood the one phrase and thought Jimmy was brilliant.
CORRECT LYRIC
All of those tourists covered with oil
HOW I HEARD IT
All of those tourists covered with AWE
I was really thinking Jimmy has snuck in a insight that was thrilling to me, however on looking up the words on the internet it went back to normal. What happens is this, as a person sitting around a lot, - Wasting Away - a lot, I have slowly become more annoyed by tourist and travelers. It comes down to Awe, they walk around with this glossy look on their faces. Plus then they are - True Believers. - The believe this is better than anything they ever experienced. There is sort of transference of a small snapshot of their life, they then believe the location is better than home or anywhere. It is really walking around in AWE, or maybe a Fog. Comparisons can lead a mind a stray. The place Jimmy talks about is real, at least to me, I search for it all the time.

Nibblin on sponge cake
Watchin the sun bake
All of those tourists covered with oil
(All of those tourists covered with AWE)
Strummin my six-string
On my front porch swing
Smell those shrimp theyre beginnin to boil
Chorus:
Wastin away again in margaritaville
Searching for my lost shaker of salt
Some people claim that theres a woman to blame
But I know its nobodys fault
I dont know the reason
I stayed here all season
Nothin to show but this brand new tattoo
But its a real beauty
A mexican cutie
How it got here I havent a clue
Chorus:
Wastin away again in margaritaville
Searchin for my lost shaker of salt
Some people claim that theres a woman to blame
Now I think
Hell, it could be my fault
I blew out my flip-flop
Stepped on a pop-top
Cut my heel had to cruise on back home
But theres booze in the blender
And soon it will render
That frozen concoction that helps me hang on
Wastin away again in margaritaville
Searching for my lost shaker of salt
Some people claim that theres a woman to blame
But I know its my own damn fault
Yes and some people claim that theres a woman to blame
And I know its my own damn fault

This is Cusco Peru
I paid a nice Dutch Girl to put my HoboTraveler.com Logo on sweatshirt, then give them to street people. She took photos and asked them a few questions. I thought about helping to fund this project as a way to bring notice to street people, plus give them a way to be warm. Cuzco is pretty high, therefore cold in the night.
The Ideas is this, the world would not like have all their poor people on webpages, therefore eventually it would induce the countries to take care of their people.
Photos taken by Irene of the Netherlands or Holland.
Señora Agripina
This woman was sitting in Calle Meson de la estrella. She always comes here

help.
Señora Sota
She just crossed the street very
difficultly because she has rheumatisme, and she sat down in the Av.
Universitaria to beg for money because she doesn’t get any financial support
from the government. She mainly spoke Quechua but understood a bit of
Spanish.
Sr. Casiano
He is blind and is sitting almost every
day in Calle Maruri, with his little money bucket with a string to avoid
that people will steel the money that he just received. Sometimes his
grandson is with him to avoid that.
He only spoke Quechua so didn’t understand
me at all but he was really happy with the sweater. I think he is about 80
years old.
Benjamin, 70 years old, also blind and is
playing the flute (very false) or some other instrument in calle
Q’aphchikijlly.
Marcelino, 38 years old, is handicapped
and moves around on his hands and his feet, with wooden blocks underneath to
protect his skin. Normally you can find him on Avenida Sol to beg for money
because he doesn’t receive any financial support.
Fidel, 68 years, is a blind man who is
always playing the Bandolina,in calle Intikijllu to receive money. Not a top

had pain in her back and problems with her lungs, Tuberculossis. If she
feels good enough to beg for money then she will be on the street. She
doesn’t have any insurance nor does she get any financial help.
In Plazoleta
Espinar I met Sacharias, 35 years old, who told me that he became sick from
one day to the other, from his middle to his feet and he also has problems
with his hands. He doesn’t know what his sickness is because, like he told

working in agriculture but now he is begging for money during the day and in
the night he stays in the Institute Fartac where he can sleep.
In Plazoleta Espinar I met a man, called

Sunday 2:35 PM
I am in some small village or stop sign in the middle of the road, almost 1 1/2 hours from JFK Airport. The owners is from India, did was not able to find a Mom and Pop Hotel, this is ok, it has Wireless better than the Days Inn in State College, because this says Very Good. The quality is my new concern. The room has HBO and a lake across from the Hotel, however in the end still a hotel, not much to do, except to watch TV and play on the Internet.
This is one of the better rooms in a long time, Fridge, Microwave, remote control for TV, however I am still waiting for the heater to catch up with the chill in the room.
I am ready to leave the USA, I am ready for more normal living and less food. I am in some places called the Holiday Motel, oops, I am in Andover, New Jersey. I drove along the road a long time searching for a non-chain for the night. I am having trouble with sterile feelings of chains.

Open but Not Open Wifi Connections on Ohio Toll Road
I stopped at a service plaza, I am not sure what you call these places. I stopped to buy a Hamburger at Burger King while on the Ohio Turnpike or Toll Road. It is a captive audience, pay to play, eat and buy more expensive than normal place.
I have this New Canary Wireless WIFI sniffer.
It says... a good 4 bar signal, and open on Channel 11.
I think, ok, enough testing, time to really test.
I go to my rental car, pull out my brains, hit the on switch. It will not work in the car. I go back inside, NOTE, there is this SBC sign, I do not know the company, I think the same one that wanted me to sign a contract to purchase my FREE Atom or RSS feeds. It was a long contract, full of too much, and I could not figure out why I was selling something that was FREE.
Probably the same as the sign, SMALL PRINT.
This is OPEN, however if you use your Credit Card. So I strike out, now I need, open, however free, no pay signals.
What is wrong with saying, yes or no, I do not have to pay or I have to pay. I now have a bad taste or a worst taste in my mouth over the SBC, now on the other hand I keep trying to learn or think why does't Mcdonald sell a Charcoal Grilled Hamburger like Burger King.

Somewhere Pennsylvania
Saturday April 9, 2006, 6:54 AM
I am not sure the time is correct, and now I realize I do not know the name of the city. I left the Ohio Turnpike and I believe entered Pennsylvania, however I just cleared the state line and looked for a place.
I guess I stopped in Hubbard, Ohio and looked for a room, there were two hotels or motels easy to stop at, however the Best Western appearing very nice was 79 dollars the Travel Motel made for truckers was 48, I thought the Best Western was nice, however sleeping is not worth often 80 dollars to me. I would rather spend my money on something more permanent. Both ask me if I had an ADL license, I am not sure what they said, however they wanted to know if I had a license to drive a semi truck. I am not sure of the discount, however it appears there are discounts offered for Truckers.
I am not sure I really would consider living with truckers as bonus, or worthy of making me stay.
I went on down the road, crossed into Pennsylvania and stopped at some exit with many Hotels; I found this no presences place called the Star Lite Motel. The woman was from Mexico and I had fun talking in Spanish and asking her questions.
She asked 39, and then dropped it to 35 when I asked about HBO Movie Channel.
The room is cavernous big enough for 4 persons, I was wondering what the price is for 2 or 3 people. The room is normal for the USA, two beds, air conditioner and heater on the wall, and Television between the beds tied to the wall.
Many people talk about features of Hotels or Motels, however I realize many times, the housekeeper or decorator is not my concern. I wish the hotels of the planet would focus on full time maintenance people. There is always a punch out list of 5-10 things in a room that are in disrepair and need fixed.
Many times the labor is so cheap in a room in Thailand or South America that all the maintenance is done, However normally all rooms have 5-10 problems that need a maintenance worker.
I am trying to think, have I ever been in a room where they had a form or way for me to report problems of maintenance or to suggest at the end of my stay.
- This needs fixed.-
- This needs repaired. -
It to me is the ever present - I am perfect - mentality of the world.
This is heard and seen when a person says,
- Do not worry, I will not forget. -
The person than just goes on working, they do not write it down, make a checklist or have any system or checks and balances to make sure the jobs is performed. In the end, the best hotel or motel is always the one with the friendly girl behind the desk, not a man, and with a full time very good maintenance person that can fix anything. I have a bad feeling here, I can think of almost zero hotels with a maintenance person, or man I had met and known. I know MOST hotels where I knew that if there was a problem in the room, I had better be able to fix it myself.
This is my normal tack, I fix problems myself, I am my own maintenance man. After being in Caribbean and paying between 40-60 U.S. dollars per night for a room for a couple of months, I can guarantee the quality of a 10 dollar room in Asia or Central and South America is the same as one for 50 in the Caribbean. The Motel I am in presently was built as a Motel, this type of room is always designed better and more spacious, usually has a telephone and a TV.
I will leave as soon as I get a shower, go as close as possible to New York City and not enter, hopefully find a Mom and Pop hotel, owned by Native Born Americans. I am in the USA to visit the USA, not to visit other countries.
