I am trying to find a way to really be mobile in any country or any place on the planet. For sure the BGAN Satellite is the probably the best for expensive internet access about anywhere. However, I am searching for stopping places where I can access the internet on a good or great level. I found a way to buy one month access in Thailand for about 22 U.S.A. Dollars for 120 Hours.
850 Baht to have 120 hours.
Breakdown of cost 200 Baht for round trip taxi to this office address below. 300 Baht to SIM Card or to get the telephone number. 350 Baht for one month of access. I needed to purchase 500 Baht of time to have extra time, and they will auto remove 350 every month, I could have purchased more or less.
The system is this. Print that address, take your computer and cell phone into the office. YOU NEED BLUETOOTH ACCESS TO YOU CELL PHONE FROM YOUR COMPUTER.
I went to Panthip Computer Mall and purchased a bluetooth chippy thing for my computer.
I have had the directions written in the Thailand language, the website for AIS has a map that is maybe helpful, nonetheless if you have traveled to Thailand you know they are not going to deal with English, especially taxi driver. The best way it to have the directions in the Thailand language, then the only fight is to make sure the Taxi driver uses the meter. Note a Tuk Tuk is more expensive than a Taxi. http://www.ais.co.th/eng/index.html
Andy,Re: Mobile OfficeWouldn't it be simpler to budget the total cost of the room and internet together as a package? Since it's possible that you could have a $10 room, and IF you work 2 hours per day then you could have a $6 per hour connection and be the same total budget at $22 per day?? Just a thought.Eric
Net Cost ApproachI do not believe I understand well this post. However, I agree a person should always think in this manner.I am paying 40 Cents U.S. per hour or about 7 Baht per hour. I would pay 30 Baht in an internet Cafe in the Khao San Road area. If I went to a normal type area of Thailand I would pay 15 Baht per hour.Mobile is the word to remember. I am a TRAVELER, therefore I TRAVEL.In the end, what I need is a MOBILE connection or a very short term connection.IF I could find a room here in Bangkok that cost less than 600 Baht with a connection inside the room I would do so.The Lampu has a Wifi connection in the lower floors, however it has some type of Key Systems and I have not tested. The always are full. Many good rooms are always full, or the cheap rooms full. This is why the GPRS Cell phone connection is great.I can live anywhere.Note, I am paying 9 dollars per day for a fan room with Color TV and this include the two hours of Internet, NOT 22.
To Josephhttp://idlest.com/Not really about Mobile Office, however I looked. In the past, I use the Linkcounter.com. I finally had a ton of these links and they went from free to paid. I now have tons of broken links. I do not recommend person using free services that have a long shelf life.Free does not mean, it will always be Free.http://www.linkcounter.com

Hi can anyone tell me. I have a Thailand SIM card, I now live in Canada. It is cheaper to use the roaming from Thailand on the SIM than to call Thailand from Canada.
How can I get acess to pre-pay on my Thai Sim Card?
