I am told I need an onward ticket to enter Trinidad.

One solution is to have a e-ticket to somewhere else, I can get on some site like America Airlines that issues E-tickets and figure out an exit path from Trinidad, then I print it out, make a few modifications then print again.

Please read this carefully and think how the e-ticket is an easy option.
