There are probably quite a lot of interesting missionaries in the first few centuries AD...Paul, for example, did a lot of travelling, although was largely restricted to the mediteranean.St.Patrick might be a more interesting character, but after scouring google for the last ten minutes, I can't find a site that'll give me a simple map of where he went. and interesting things happen. "st.patrick's journeys" comes up with things where "journey" has a spiritual meaning. "st.patrick's route" brings links to marches on st.patrick's day... :S
