Reader writes me about Travel Writing... hehehe

READER WROTE

For ease of understanding, I will answer in CAPITALS LETTERS.

Andy:

I don't want to come across as sounding pretentious but I'd like to
offer you a few suggestions to improve your writing. I've published
three books and have written for a number of publications, including
the Financial Times of London so I think I know a little bit about
the subject. ;) I read your journal because I am interested in the
places you visit.

1. Is there any way you could spell check your diary? I'm a bad
speller myself but I'm getting a bit frustrated by all your spelling
mistakes. I suggest typing your diary in Word and then cut and
pasting it to Yahoo once you have run a basic spelling and grammer
check.

YES, I CAN DO THIS, HOWEVER YOU ARE NOT EMPATHIZING WITH THE DIFFICULTY OF WORKING INSIDE AN INTERNET CAFE. I AM NOT ON MY COMPUTER NOW, FOR THE LAST THREE DAYS THERE WAS NO WAY TO TRANSFER INFORMATION FROM MY COMPUTE TO THE INTERNET CAFE. I AM ONLY WORKING WITH MY COMPUTER AND A CONNECTION ABOUT 20 PERCENT OF THE TIME.

SECOND PROBLEM
MY BRAIN WORKS AT HYPER SPEED, AND IT IS LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO SLOW MY BRAIN DOWN ENOUGH TO PROOF READ ACCURATELY AND STILL HAVE A LIFE. I AM GOING TO PAY A EDITOR EVENTUALLY TO GO BACK AND FIX THIS, I AM HAVING THE LIFE, THE REAL TRAVEL LIFE.

THIRD PROBLEM
THIS IS REAL, NOT SOME FAKE CRAP, THIS IS REAL TIME, I JUST READ YOUR EMAIL, CUT A PASTED IT INTO THE BLOG AND WILL PUBLISH. IF YOU WANT A STAGED, UNREALISTIC, UNTRUE SITUATION THEN I WOULD MAKE EVERYTHING PERFECT.

FOURTH PROBLEM
I AM NOT A LYING SACK OF SH"#
I AM NOT A TRAVEL WRITER AND SORT OF CONSIDER THAT AN INSULT.
I DO NOT CARE

FIFTH PROBLEM
THE GOAL OF THE WEB SITE WAS TO EARN ENOUGH MONEY TO TRAVEL, I AM MAKING NOW FOUR TIMES THE AMOUNT OF MONEY NEEDED. I HAVE THOUGH SERIOUSLY ABOUT QUITTING THE BLOG, HOWEVER MY MOTHER LIKES IT, AND IT DOES GIVE ME SOMETHING TO DO.

2. Try focus less on costs and annoyances and more on your
experiences. What stands out and grabs you during your travels?
People make for good stories. Therefore, you need to make a greater
attempt to meet locals and talk about them.

THIS IS A WEB LOG OR BLOG
IT TO ME IS AN UNEDITED LOG OF MY TRIP, TO DO WHAT YOU SAY WOULD TO MAKE MY DIARY THE DIARY OF THE PEOPLE RIEADING, I JUST DO WHAT COMES TO MY MIND AND DO NOT MAKE AN EFFORT TO DREAM UP STUFF TO THINK ABOUT. AS FOR TRAVEL I ALSO DO THAT FOR FUN AND NOT FOR THE READER.

3. Employ rich detail to illustrate a point or a theme. If you meet a
beautiful girl, talk about her. Where does she come from? What was
she wearing? What does she do for a living? What foods does she like?
What does she enjoy doing? In short, strive to develop the characters
that come into your life.

I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT ADJECTIVES, I READ A LOT OF JAME MICHENER AND WILBUR SMITH, I ADMIRE THEIR ABILTY TO EXPLAIN.

4. This book may help you improve your travel writing:

THE LINK BROKE SO I DELETED... I CANNOT BUY BOOKS ANYWAY, I AM WANTING TO READ THE SHELTERING SKY AND I MUST READ WHAT I CAN TRADE FOR AND I CANNOT BE BOTHERED TO SPEND A LIFETIME LOOKING FOR ENGLISH BOOKS IN BOOKSSTOES. I TRADE AS IT IS POSSIBLE.

A Sense of Place : Great Travel Writers Talk About Their Craft,
Lives, and Inspiration (Travelers' Tales)
by Michael Shapiro

I HATE TO READ TRAVEL WRITER AND THEY ANNOY ME, THEY STAGE, POSTURE, LIE, AND MAKE UP STUFF JUST TO ENTERNTAIN. THIS IS MY DIARY AND YOU JUST HAPPEN TO BE READING IT

I hope this helps. I don't want to sound like a know-it-all. My own
writing could certainly use some improvement as well. ;)

John

BY THE WAY A LETTER WITHOUT A LAST NAME IS AN ANONYMOUS EMAIL AND LACKS IN CREDIBILITY, I NEVER PUBLISIH LAST NAME UNLESS THE PERSON WANTS ME TO, HOWEVER FOR ME TO TAKE A PERSON SERIOUS THEY NEED A LAST NAME. I HAVE FOUND THAT THE WHOLE WORLD WANTS TO BE A WRITER, AND I JUST WANT TO GO CHASE GIRLS IN OTHER COUNTRIES.

I HAVE ACHIEVED MY GOAL FOR EARNING ENOUGH MONEY TO TRAVEL FOREVER, AND HAVE MANY MORE PROJECT IN THE WORKS, MOST OF WHICH I BLACKHOLE BECAUSE THEY WOULD BORE MYSELF TO DEATH TO WRITE. I NEVER JOURNALED IN MY LIFE AND ONLY STARTED BECAUSE I WENT TO IRAQ AND THOUGHT IT WOULD HELP PEOPLE TO LEARN ABOUT DANGER, AND IRAQ.

I SPEND TWO HOURS PER DAY IN THE INTERNET MAXIMUN, AND IN THAT TIME I SPEND MOST OF THE TIME DOING THING THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WTIH THE BLOG. THE BLOG IS REALLY ONLY ABOUT 5 PERCENT OF THE TIME I SPEND WORKING ON MY COMPUTER. THE OTHER 95 PERCENT IS STAGING TO MAKE MAJOR TRAVEL SITE MOVES AND PROJECTS. I AM A COLLECTOR OF DATA, THAT IS MY HOBBY, THAT WITH GIRLS...
I ALMOST EDITED THE GIRL PART, THEN THOUGHT, NO THIS IS MY DIARY

I GOT TO GO, I SUPPOSE I COULD HIT THAT LITTLE abc THE SPELL CHECK,THINGY ON THE BLOGGER.COM THINGY HERE, HOWEVER I AM TIRED AND WANT TO GO WATCH TV.

THANKS THOUGH IT DOES MAKE MY DAY THAT YOU THINK IT IS WORTH TRYING, HOWEVER REMEMBER FOLKS....

I BE HOBO

THEY ARE CLOSING SO REALLY NOT POSSIBLE TO SPELL CHECK.

Andy!I read you mainly for the typos, the alternative spelling, top of the head observations, opinions, rants, flames and SHOUTING. I suffer re-hashes of group thought...that's what's oppressive, then YOU take time for an original thought and SHARE it? Thank you! No Hobo??? I expect I would be spoon-fed travel pap until screen freeze and reset bomb might trip my accidental mind. Your style makes me think and exposes some 3-D World that's out there, not shut-in and considered.Subtle, funny...your performance art might feature walk-on ensemble guest writers on the carrier-wave of the blogoshere. SNAP! The sound of one hand clapping is the synaptic neighborhood of a finger popping blogger. - Chris Smith

Yuk YukI thought you were all waiting for me to get brave enough to put topless photos in the blog. What is really weird, I was under real time restraints, in fact the lady kept the place open to allow me to publish that blog. Is there something about the unedited brain that is more interesting than the pre-conceived and edited brain? I try my best to not introspect about what I am writing, however self-perceiving is not possilbe, or to say that free flow thought only comes under pressure, I work to slow the brain down enough to make what I type understandable to me.
