HAT LEK BORDER RUN

< Older | Newer >

I will leave Koh Mak very soon and go to the city of Trat, Thailand. I will stay around and look at the market for a day, then make a one day Border Run to Cambodia. I have to pay about 1200 Baht or 30 Dollar U.S. to enter Cambodia and I will immediately return to Thailand and back to Trat.

This is a BORDER RUN.

Not a trip to enter a country, but a trip to get the visa stamp, you could call is a Visa Run also, or whatever you wish.

Nonetheless, I will leave Thailand so I have 30 more days of legal time in Thailand. If I wish, I can stay over illegal and they will charge me 5 dollars or 200 Baht for each day. I did this once because the 2 days over was cheaper than leaving the country.

Hat mean Beach, and for the most part I cannot find the place on the map I have. It is on the Lonely Planet Map in the guidebook. I do not have a guidebook, but nab a few to look at occasionally.

The trip from Trat to Hat Lek is suppose to take one hour, but I am planning on the whole round trip time from port to port or Trat and back to Trat as taking about 5-6 hours. Therefore, it will take at least half the day. I will leave Trat around 8:00 AM so I can be at the border before all the always a day late, or dollar short people, or the drunks cross the border.
