WHERE IS THIS CITY?

I am here in Tarifa, Spain in a rotten internet cafe in the center of the fortress part of Tarifa. Today is Saturday and my normal cafe is closed.

I am told Sunday Ramadan is done, does that include Sunday or are they fasting on Sunday?

I read this story and it is missing a big detail. Where is this city?
The distance across is about 8 miles I have calculated from Tanger to Tarifa by water.

I do not like read articles that are suppose to tug on my heart strings, and I am here wondering where, when, what etc. I would like some good journalism!

I wrote Steve and 5 dollars says he does not respond.

showharrigan@foxnews.com

Oops, I need to say more or at least a friend says so... French
The implied stuff gets lost in Translation.

I wrote Steve to ask hime,
¨Where is this city?¨
Nothing big, because if he is busy, then better to give him a quick question and hope for answer. I know what happens to me when people ask 20 questions, I procrastinate.

Note the computer keyboard yesterday would not work, so impossible write in detail.
That is my excuse, and I sticking to it. (A song)

TWO GERMAN AND ONE PHILIPPINE GIRL

Some other travelers entered the Hostal, we all seem to be waiting for Ramadan to end. I think the USA should learn from the French and German about colonization and how to be imperialistic. The USA just does not know how to convince a country to like what they get.

I want to ask the Philippine girl if her passport will allow her to travel easily? Hard to imagine a Philippine girl being able to go anywhere without visa upon visa as she moves.

JACK KEROUAC
Kerouac, Jack (1922-1969), American writer, who was the first to use the term Beat Generation. Writer of book “On the Road.”

The other day a person told me on the phone that my writing style reminded him of Jack Kerouac. I have read the book “On the Road,” and thought it not so good, but he is considered an important writer, although I think he was sort of Lenny Bruce of writing, breaking normal conventions and making you like it.

I do write a bad as Jack Kerouac, I would agree, but I am just writing and talking to myself, and some people just are listening over my shoulder.

COLD IN ROOM
I am in one of my normal concrete rooms on the planet. I am leaving all three lights on so that the light bulbs can heat the room a little. Time to go south for the winter.

THE TOWEL WAR - TOALLA
I am having a small problem with the management of the Hostal or Hotel here, and the first in 8 years of travel. I normally can convince the management and cleaning people to NOT clean my room. This makes me feel safe from the little fingers of cleaning ladies and their thieving ways. But here in the Hostal Facundo the girl is persistent, sometime Hotels are persistent because they want to check or manage the residents. Maybe they want to know if I am violating the rule about not cleaning my clothes in the lavatory or bath…

Busted. I am washing my clothes in the lavatory in my room.

But they also are want to change my sheets and make my bed. I am negotiating poorly on this issue and they have successfully change my sheets and made my bed twice. I tell the girl not to do this, and she does it anyway… But here the kicker.

She took MY towel yesterday, not the Hotels towel, but my towel and in typical Latino manner, no importante, I keep telling them that

Tu Tienes mi Toalla!
No esta tuyo, esta mio.

Now I remember. The word to have does not translate the same. I am going to have to say I am the owner of a Towel.

I cannot say,
“I own a towel.”
Because the world to own is not a verb as best I can explain or understand Spanish.

Dueño is OWNER

Propietario is maybe in some ways to own, but more like Proprietor of the Towel.

I have not told three separate people and I think my towel is taking a tour of the bodies of other residents of the Hotel. I am going to have to be sneaky or steal two of their towels, as they have taken a very good towel of mine and all I have is minus one star towels. I do have two towels, but the cleaning lady did not see this, or did not care. Caring about these type of issue is sort of German type attitude, but I do like Sericio y I am wanting my towel.

Issues issues issues Life if full of small wars.

Maybe it is time to go to step two towel strategy. I have been speculating about starting to use a 2 meter long and 1 meter wide piece of cotton cloth for a towel. I figure it would be very think material and would dry faster because of more surface area exposed to the air and less interior thickness. I also could use better as a sheet or light blanket. Towels do not make good blankets unless you do not shower!

This would be like a sarong or a longy, but of thicker material.

So the great American / Spanish Towel wars started in Tarifa, Spain.
Yo quiero mi toalla!

Gracias.

The Road To Morocco

The Road To Morocco
On this date (10/11/04) in 1942, Bob Hope and Bing
Crosby released their picture "The Road To Morocco".

Thanks to - Chris

I leave Sunday, Monday, or soon for Morocco or as soon as I am sure how to spell the name of the country.
Maybe Morroco or Morocco or Morrocco or any wish.

I was thinking about Tanger or TANGIER in English.
I just sent off a newsletter saying I would go to Tanger... I bet that put a crook in their spelling necks and hopefully drives everyone crazy.

As my friend Gary says,
¨That is a put, not a drive.¨
(Golf Lingo)

But I am reading the signs here, I am trying to buy a rapid boat trip to Tanger here, I am seeing the word daily on every type of advertisement, signs and etc. What am I to do, think of Tangier every time I read Tanger?Communication is about the intent and getting the idea, and making sure I use enough colloquial phrases that it confuses everyone, (Especially French girls by the name of Isabelle.) but also it is fun and teaches my European, Asian, Africa, Austrailia, Antartica, South American, Central American, North American and sub continent or any other place I forgot readers about English.
I am not sure Mexico cares.

Language is about intention and communication, I also use it to flirt, but for sure
Rod Stewart was right about a nod is as good as a wink to a blind horse.

And,
Henry David Thoreau one of my adopted mentors was incredibily correct.

RSS readers, please tell me, or answer a question.
How do you see the pictures I post?
Do they show up in your RSS reader?

I suppose I could include the links to the photo, but confusing for people.
Click here to write, or I suppose you can click on the comments and help the world, or you can do both as the Scarecrow said in the Wizard of Oz.

Note the stupid blogger site or the Spanish computer said... Borrar when I tried to click on the spell checker today. Borrar in Spanish mean to erase. I have no idea what the computer wants to do, but the only conservative thing is to publish and not worry about spelling.

TARIFA SPAIN ESPANA

This is probably out of order, but would you tear out pages in your diary to correct it, just the way things are…? Imperfect world and imperfect people that creates a perfect place.

Wednesday November 10, 2004 8:31 am

I am in Tarifa, Spain the southernmost point of Europe, as normal for me when I arrive, and very seldom, but sometime before I go to a destination I look up the name in my Encarta Computer Encyclopedia. There is probably nothing more useful and valuable than this Encyclopedia. In a world full of disinformation and liars, this is an oasis of knowledge and truth for me.

I include guidebooks in the liar pages and would include my own site and newsletters in the not so good categories. Let me think on how I would classify information I receive?

( I am realizing that the blog interferes with the newsletters, I need to go finish my newsletter, and I will come back to this later, there is only so many hours I will type in a day, and then I stop.)

I am back
Thursday November 11, 2004 4:20 PM

HOW I CLASSIFY TRAVEL INFORMATION I RECEIVE?

- Lies - Pre-mediated
- Person lying but does not know they are lying.
- Naïve and read the guidebook and did not check.
Thus they repeat the same gossip over and over.
- Save the world - Full of prejudices and rage over
somehow or where they was not loved as a child.
- Opinions collaborated with shady or crap,
VERY common in Guidebooks and web pages.
- Facts that are really opinions and should keep
separated…
- Opinions take it or leave it… BEST
I hope this is me! But maybe I am delusional.
- Facts collaborated with good research but failed to find the real picture because they lived inside the resort and were surrounded by experts.
- Facts through painstaking research. This is NOT common, and only done for an encyclopedia or dictionary.

But what would life be without a great big daily rationalization for why we did or not do something?

WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH ARAFAT DEAD

I am wanting to go to Israel from Morocco by land.

With Arafat dead, there will probably be a small civil war in Palestine to see who is the next Mafia boss. This is good because he had too much power, but not good for me to travel to Israel... aaagh!

TARIFA SPAIN KITE SURFING

This guy is from Tarfia Espana, y muy bien.

No se, Guapa.. For my loyal fans... !
This was the only girl on the beach in a bikini. I captured the moment.

They are pulled up and down the beach with this Kite or by the wind, they flip it over to go the opposite direction or something.

Me trying to lay in the sun and dry my clothes. One load cost 5 U.S. Dollars, and the room is too cold and too humid to allow them to dry... Mildew here I come! I will go dirty before I pay 4 Euros to dry one load of clothes. Morocco here I come.

WIND SURFING TARIFA SPAIN

Me jumping on top of the search.. Titles!

I am going to take photos I hope soon of the wind surfers, kite surfers, and the surfers, plus a few fisherman with long fishing poles. The beach is really cold, but very nice. A very good beach, but not enough bikinis.

I was thinking that I really have no idea what other bloggers do, and that is why I claim ignorance. I am not sure how to use the RSS feed of my own blog, and to me this is a Travelogue. I am more or less and expert at how to get in google.com and high on the list, but in reality I am just Joe Blow traveling the planet and looking at girls. Grateful I do not drink or do drugs, or for sure I would be dead by now.

People keep asking if I am going to Morocco to smoke hash?
I really hope there are more reasons to go to Morocco than to smoke Hash.

TARIFA

To continue....

I am not rich, but am starting to upgrade from the 3 dollar room to the 5 because of a new type of advertising on pages. Plus other advertisers of which I am forever grateful to have. My life is perfect.

But the internet cafe...
Opens at 10
closes at 1
opens at 5
and closes at 8

In some cheap countries they are open 24 hours, like Manila, Philippine, and in the modern countries I spend all my time and money trying to get some work done because they are too clever.

I can only send 10 emails at a time through their system or it blocks them.
Verizon in the USA blocks everything so I can only write online.

Why am I telling you all of this.... I am out on the road, and not sitting behind some super charged computer eating bon bons, I am eating egg sandwiches I can cook in the Hotel. The Facundo Hostal .. that is spelled correctly...! In Spanish the word for Hotel is Hostal, and it is not a Hostel, but has a kitchen, so I think this is better than the stupid flop house Hostels of Europe that have a bar down below.

I always working and having to do the work twice because the computer break, or they close, or the time goes off, and it reboots itself. That happened in Madrid. Life is not as simple as some of you sitting around eating bon bons think.

So do I care about comments. I cannot be bothered! I like the helpful comments, and the ones that want to add to the situation, but the majority are just lost and clueless individuals. Your comment is great and that is why I am answering it. Because it is basically what people think the normal blogger wants. The normal blogger want to be famous. That is why the blogger.com has a profile place to put our picture. I want to have more than my share of hobo money, and not more. I do not want some dingaling coming up to me in Tarifa and saying hello, because he or she wants to saddle up to famous. Fame is curse, I do not have my photo on the site, and when I make a mistake, I try to remove it.

I want enough money to travel.
I like to travel more than I like to Blog.
I have never kept a journal or diary, or whatever you want to call this, until I went to Iraq and thought I was creating or making original comments. There are not many travelers that go to Iraq. I try to stay on the cutting edge of travel and adventure, and not on the armchair of life.

So if people want to comment and add something to life... GREAT.
If they want to be mean, then let the world know there are mean people in the world and the Holocaust can happen again!

If people want to ask questions, that is OK, and expected.
I am making enough money to pay for the internet and life is good.
Wish I had a girl to travel with me sometimes for companionship, but I can not complain, my life is great and thank all the good Gods of the world.

Note. I put Tarifa as the title, because that will probably put me up in the top 5 pages of google.com in a few months. Just some webmaster info.

I CLAIM BLOG IGNORANCE.... HEHEHE

Hello world,

I received this post or comment in my Yahoo Mail account box today:

Andy, arent you surprised, if not perturbed, by the fact that you hardly get any comments at your blog. Are you very rich?
--Posted by Anonymous to Andy HoboTraveler.Com Travel Blog at 11/9/2004 11:04:31 PM

MY ANSWER:
The comments although appreciated are the last thing on my brain. I am trying to get to Morroco and trying to reduce my daily cost of living from 20 Euros or about 25 Dollars U.S. to about 10 Dollars. I am really out here traveling and very fast recently.

I am trying to wash my clothes as these money gougers want...
6 Euros to wash a load.
4 Euros to dry
That is 10 Euros to wash and dry one load of clothes.
My room on the weekly rate is 12 Euros per day!
The internet is 2 Euros per hour, so to answer this cost me about one-half Euro.
The keyboard on this SPANISH computer had the keys for / Ñ and other letters moved to different locations so I have trouble typing. Then people want me to check and double check the spelling. I had to write and send from my mail box the other day and I do not have spell checker on that either.

Basically I am a traveler and not some fat guy sitting around in a room hacking, playing war game, or chatting dirty to some girl on the other side of the plane they can never have. I am on the other side of the planet in some Internet cafe where they could care less I am here. I change computer daily, and never know what the next sand trap is located, the next land mine, or what will happen. I am in the processs of copying photos from my3.5 disk of the Mavica camera to the hard drive of this computer. I have some ASIAN copies of real disk and they are all sorts of problems. I am hoping I do not lose photos. I was very upset when I lost my best Rhino photo in Nepal on a computer.

The world is not a perfect place, and either am I, so in my point of view I should do my best and let the world do what they will do.

PLUS there is a mass lemming problem for blogging. I have only had that comments thing up for the last month or so and that is when people could start to comment. Most comments are anonymous and they take delight in provoking, but I figure people would rather read jerk comments, so I leave them up and do not delete. The internet is an anonymous animal and unfortunately a lot of people thrive on being mean.

I am going to publish this before I lose it, I almost hit the power button with my foot. I did this yesterday.

ARCHEOLOGY

I have been trying to learn or figure out a way to find Archeology sites, not the old one, but the new ones. Just recently there was some little small figure they compared to a Hobbit found in Indonesia.

I have discovered a way with google alerts
http://www.google.com/alerts

I can put in my topic like say Archeology and it sends me an email I think DAILY about the news on this subject. Pretty cool and a good way for me to follow some topic.

It sent me this on Archeology:
Check out on this page I have posted some of the Alerts

WHY A TOURIST OR TRAVELER SHOULD USE?
I am trying to learn about Libya and Algeria so I have also used them words. Why this is so good is when you are traveling especially to the dodgy countries like Libya or Iraq, or maybe you are worried about Nepal you can stay as current as possible on breaking news. I have people believe or they think for instance because I am in Spain I know more about Spain than other people. I know some interesting culture, but I am totally oblivious to the news of Spain... It is all Spanish here! The world TV is better or the internet, but I am not on either of them source long enough to understand the current events or news.

MY FRIEND OREN IS HOBO IN ISRAEL

I met Oren from Canada while in Varnasi, India. We ran into each other again in Bangkok, Thailand and in Cambodia... Etc.

His blog today that is on Hobotraveler.com was pretty poignant explaining the situation in Israel. I am on the way I hope to see him...
http://www.hobotraveler.com/orenworldtraveller/
My route is tentatively
Morocco - Algeria - Tunisia - Libya - Egypt - Israel... Depends on stamp of passport for Israel. It is possible I will stop in Sudan, but the Visa seems a pain.

Oren wrote a very good explanation on how to deal the stamp issue when going to Israel where there are countries that will not allow you to enter if you have stamp on your passport from Israel. It is on bottom or before the submissions.

TARIFA SPAIN

6:28 pm Sunday November 7, 2004

UN OTRA DIE EN PARIAISO
Paraíso

Another day in Paradise
I am in Tarifa, Spain, it is located on the very tip, and maybe as two USA missionaries said, it maybe the closest point to Morocco from Spain.

(Having real trouble with spelling Morocco… one or two R’s)

FUCUNDA HOSTAL
Not a Hostel, but a Hostal, it is the word in many Spanish origin countries where they mean Hotel. It is hard to be certain but in some of the Central or South American countries they used the word Hostal and it was a Hotel. Probably dragged the word there from this region of the world.

My computer Encyclopedia Encarta can translate different languages, but does not have the word HOSTAL, this word has been everywhere as I have moved around Madrid to Malaga, Marabelle to Alageciras to Tarifa on the sides of maybe Hotels, but with the name Hostal.
WIRELESS COMPUTER CLOSE

I am having a wireless connection show up on my computer, but I have not been able to determine if I can hop on an internet connection. I believe a lot of people have a wireless connection, but do not have 24 hour a day internet access, as many would in the USA. So there are lots of wireless computer connect in peoples houses, but no connection to the internet.

Time to make a page on how to connect to a wireless connection!

I have paid for a week in the Facunda Hostal here in Tarifa, Spain with the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean within cannon range of my room.

My 5800 mile trip in 4 days from Orland, Indiana to Tarifa, Spain including the time it took to replace my passport that was stolen on the Train in Madrid. Never for a instance think that Europe is safer than South America or even the inner cities of USA…

MAP WHERE I AM PRESENTLY TYPING!
I will probably .. Maybe, or who knows stay here for a couple of weeks, unless Portugul tempts me too much.

This has got to be the point where the Christians separated the world from the Islamic word by the Sword, gun, musket, or cannon… maybe a few rock thrown. Now there is another type of invasion. Sadly I saw or a Bolvian man by the name of Alejandro pointed out where there was a terrorist bomb at the Atocha Metro stop that killed around 200 Spain people and more or less scared the Spanish people out of Iraq. Not a good move on the part of Spain, because it just shows they can be manipulated by terrorist. Never a good move to negotiate or run from kidnappers or terrorist or just crazies religious zealots whether Christian Crusader or Islamic Jihaad crazies. Religious zealots cause a lot of problems on the planet, and all in the name of God, I think someone is missing the point.

SAME SWEATSHIRT

I had sort of a necessity to go south. I only have one sweatshirt and no jacket, I am tired of carrying a jacket, but am looking for one of them super light jackets like was lost in by KLM on the trip to Istanbul a year ago. I missed my chance to purchase in Katmandu, Nepal, but will snag one again the next chance. Sort of a insulated windbreakers, but very light, maybe all nylon. So what this translates to is I have this smelly, white or crème colored sweatshirt I purchase in Concord Massuachesetts that says,

“Beware of all Enterprises that requires new clothes.”
By Henry David Thoreau

He is one of my adopted mentors, although he was dead a long time before I adopted him as one of my mentors. He wrote the book Walden, it about living simply and not have consumer purchase own you, and you living your life free of being owned by the things you buy. He also said or believe you could live on working about 5 weeks a year, and I also believe a person can work 2-3 hours a day and live very good.

So it is long past the time to clean this sweatshirt, although I am still needing it daily and have to give it up long enough to clean it. I will wash it in the sink tomorrow morning and hang on the roof as an emergency wash measure.

The Hobo has landed and paid 84 Euros or 12 Euros per day to get a wonderful private room in Europe, but almost into Africa. I think 12 Euros is about 14.75 U.S. Dollars. The room was 15 Euros on a daily basis, I committed because I need the space of time to relax and regroup. Plus the guy at the reception or owner has a perfect feel, and he would not stop being a tour guide. He told me how the city worked, where to wash my clothes, where the internet was located, and how to go to the beach on both the Atlantic an Pacific side, where to party at night and how to go look at winery north of here. He was above and beyond the call of duty and only maybe German Escobar in Bogota, Colombia at the Platypus Hostel would match him for help… woo… he was good, Sold me for a week without even blinking.

Life is good, La Vida es Buena.
Time to go look for more bread, I am tired and ready to eat.
If this place had a hasp on the door and a wastebasket, it would be perfect. It actually has a reading light above the bed. I do not have to use the one I carry!

Ooops. I just found the wastebasket. I lock my computer in my new small backpack when I leave the room and chain it to the closet door.

SAVE AS - Morroco

I opened all of Chris pages...

Clicked on File
Clicked on SAVE AS

Save on my hard drive so I can read on bus.

TARIFA - AND RAMADA - ISLAMIC MONTH

Dear Andy,

Yes it's getting cold now everywhere...
If you want an advice : wait until ramadan is over to go to marocco,
because it's a real mess.

You have a nice place in spain, call Tarifa. it's a little town on the
souht of spain, and from there, you can take a ferry to tanger.
Lot of people don't know this solution, everydody goes to algeziras,
but Tarifa is nicer. It's plenbty of surfers and bio-bars with fruits
juices, you see what I mean ?

For marocco : nice beaches are in the north, of course, but sun is in
the south, after the atlas, around ouarzazate.
the temperature is 27° C during the day, but 12 when the sun is down.
Yesterday : big storm...

Hope I can see you if you stop by in marrakech.

CHRIS TO BEACH RESCUE

Hi Andy - Gabriela is a Babe!

Sorry to hear about your passport and her plane ticket. Boo Hoo!

I knew it was cool and rainy in Spain (and Portugal) right now, but
shouldn't have assumed you were aware of that. No travel guide? I
keep running into this site so I will point to it, I guess. It's got less
that glowing reports from some Moroccan places so I give it some credibility
(the good and the bad get equal coverage). Anyway it tells how to take the
Marrakesh Express! Twenty bucks (or Euros) I think. The "Travel Tips"
section makes a good mini-travel guide itself , but I'd think
downloading the whole site to a thumb drive will make an interesting read. Here
are some the URL's from there.

http://www.hiptravelguide.com/morocco/tips.htm

Heard of this place, Essaouira, Morocco? The beach.

http://www.hiptravelguide.com/morocco/essaouira.htm

Essaouira was where Jimi Hendrix (Jimi owned a Hotel there - still there)
and Bob Marley used to hang out for extended time. It's where Jimi
wrote about in "Castles in the Sand", because that place really exists.
Maybe it's still a little like Goa, but on the smaller, less congested side
for a Moroccan burg (no smog) and not entirely westernized for European
package tourists, like this beach town called Agadir.

GREAT...!
I am on the way to Morroco, I am placing this in the blog for easier access.

I will click and go see. Algeciras is my destination now on the Spain side. I am in a T-shirt with the same same but different Thailand saying sitting on the floor of the bus stop in Fuengirola.

Very modern, but not helpful at all, the El Cid hotel down the street wanted 22 Euros for a room with no TV and then I went to rent it, he said that normally the day of rent starts at noon.

So he would give me the night of the 7th. But when I paid and wanted a receipt for the night of the 7th he would not give me a receipt. He was brain dead so I go my money back and started to book for Algeciras, Heidi my friend had a party or something, but she is not putting enough priority on my meeting up with her to waste my time. So what ... so what.

I had a great time with Gabriela and she went to the Bus stop with me and game the Argentina cheek kiss goodby. Great person.

I will publish again before losing the wireless or my battery.
My bus leaves in 15 minutes.

FUENGIROLA SPAIN

I have just arrived to where my friend Heidi is living, I guess she is partying all night so is not available. I have no idea and really am not keen on the idea of hunting for her.

There is WIRELESS FREE connection here at the bus stop.

I leave at 8:15 for a city in Spain by the name Algericiras // I hope I spelled close. It is close to Gibraltor. It is the place where the ferries cross to Morroco as best I can determine. I will publish this before I lose a connection.

MTV THE RULER OF YOUNG MINDS
Madrid Cat Hostel Breakfast 8:47 am Saturday 6, 2004

Nothing like a croissant and MTV to wake the kids up in the morning. I am in the Cats Hostel Flophouse bar for morning free Breakfast. It is more or less OK, the normal Bread and Coffee, he has cereal but seems to ignore the cereal for everyone unless you press the issue. But the croissant is excellent, but this universal small Hostel breakfast is missing the jelly, unless I have not found it but for sure the jelly is not within throwing distance.

The bartenders is Poland and speaks moderate Spanish, but this is ok, because none of the travelers appear to speak Spanish except for the Argentina travelers or the Spain people that are staying here. Mostly German and British travelers, The place has a lot of German on a weekend trip to the city to shop or drink. With the invent of the cheap airlines like Easyjet.com there is now a new class of traveler.

WEEKENDERS - The jet traveler.

This is a new phenomena for me, although I noticed this type of traveler in Amsterdam as lots of Irish were in the Naught Nellie Hostel for the weekend and partying the night away. I suspected they was not the normal 2-3 month European Backpacker tour person, but I was not sure and really did not care as they were slappers and Lager heads.

Note: The whole breakfast crowd is watching MTV and not talking. The loss of a good mind is not a pretty thing.

The weekend travel person is a new type of traveler, as they are not trying to save money, plus they

PHOTOGRAPHER IN THE NEXT ROOM

Here is this guy in the next room clattering or making noise trying to enter the room. Finally, I hopped out of bed thinking it was my room, and might as well help the person to enter. There was and older gentleman and not in any way typical type person for a Hostel taking a tripod camera into the room. I did not think much about that as there are lot of people with these camera and who cares, but when he set up to take a photo of the bed. I realized as I walked to the bathroom that this was not normal. I take a photo of the beds, but I do not set up a tripod to do this, I just point and shoot. But he was so intense and full of himself doing this; I had to go and get my camera and take his photo. I asked him in Spanish and in English what he was doing and he answered in English and in part in Spanish what he was doing. I am not clear on what the language problem was, but nonetheless I finally figured out he was taking photos for a web site about Madrid or for Madrid.

He is not living in this room; I have no idea why the management did not help him into the room better. There are these very obnoxious and makes me glad I do not drink electronic locks that are difficult to open, so everyone is meeting everyone as the ones that have learned how to use the lock are helping the new people that enter the hostel to learn. They are a pain and to the tune of 10 Euros, the deposit on the plastic card they use them. I suppose they are ok, but I thought these plastic cards in hotel were to get rid of the cost of losing a key? This is probably a moneymaker, the 10 Euro deposit.

Well the old person in the room was nice, and I told him. I have a web page also, but he seem oblivious to learning about anything other than his job, so even though I think he was discovering travel information me telling him that I have a travel web page did not phase him.

I will tell you why, 99.99 percent of travel web pages are crap, and in many ways so is mine, so why would anyone care what happens with a web page. They are for the most part worthless so who would care. I do because I am making very good hobo money now, but that is a different thing than someone that wants help from a Webpage. I am constantly frustrated with the over abundance of worthless travel sites. No efforts empathize with the tourist or traveler and provide anything more than pictures, and not too many at that. I take hundreds of photos because for sure, a photo is worth a million words, and 100 are worth 100 times more than one. I suspect this person will only put up a few pictures of the Cats Hostel and not enough to truly understand this place….aagh, I did not want to take photos of this clean and sterile place, but for sure now, I have talked my way into a corner, where I should take photos.

When you enter a hotel or hostel they often have a line that ask,
“What is your profession?”
I am always filling it out now as “Writer.” I would go into a panic if I was a hotel, but that has only go attention of the Blanca and White something Hotel in Banos Ecuador and everyone else on the planet seems to ignore the answer. Fun and more fun on things like that, but who listens anymore as everyone is so busy, they have no time to listen or read the answers.

WITH A NEW PASSPORT AND FREE AGAIN

I am very glad to leave Madrid, although it is clean, bright, and friendly it is too cold for my blood, and in the end just another big city. The culture is European and very close to the USA culture so Mas or Menos the same. Europe is just a hair different in most way than the USA, and on the cultural continuum they are so so close that hardly worth talking about. The biggest differences are in the buildings and the hour their work habits. For sure the Americans work more hours and have a better quality of life, while there is a lot more small cultural differences in Europe. I guess they are getting invaded by Africa, India, and Asia more than the USA, and this is big cultural change. If you listen to people complain about the country of Turkey trying to join the European Union you will see that nobody things the Muslim countries are the same as Europe. I do not see them as a big difference, or enough of a difference to say they should not be allow to enter. But then again I am in favor of merging all the countries of North America under one umbrella union and getting rid of the border all together. Why not share our wealth and make the whole North American continent richer at the expense of the USA worker. Why does one a person in Mexico or Guatemala need to be that poor? There as some slightly poor people in other countries that need a job and food. Not a lot, and nothing tragic, but for sure America is fat and need to share the food.

Bottom line, I think the world need to Create more Michael Moores that worked for Auto Factories and lost their job, so that poorer countries could be elevated out of the stone ages. Plus he is way to fat and represents the worst of the USA, and nothing of the best.

OPENED THE MADRID USA EMBASSY

# 3 OPENED in my life.

I have gone to a few USA Embassies in my travels. Twice to the Embassy in Quito, Ecuador to see about helping a couple of Ecuador girls to enter the USA to no avail. Twice in Bangkok in different years to get extra pages in my passport and now to the USA Madrid Embassy.

I have successful got them to open the embassy and service my needs, probably because I am the 1 in 200 that is really from the USA. The only reason I have had to do this is the asinine hours they keep.

Today I had the most trouble, as they made me walk across the street from the Embassy to use the pay telephone to call the Embassy to say I wished to enter. Luckily, I speak Spanish because the front entrance people spoke zero English. I still hollered at them in English to let them know they were dealing with some homegrown and they were Pendejos in their language.

Nevertheless, they tried their best to make me leave, but I stuck them out and kept talking English until the woman was frazzled and in typical third world fashion probably thought I was someone important and told the guard to let me in.

She proceed to tell me I was to get a 3 month temporary passport and I started to give her a hard time and a REAL American jumped in to help, and he finally was a great guy and listened. He was from Bloomington, Indiana and told me he could give me a one year temporary Passport. The lady was bitch and never let up, so I never let up, but my theory is punish anyone from your own country, (She is not from my country, she is from Spain trying to work for the USA.) that does not act like a good citizen. I was on USA ground and a safe haven in the middle of the desert. Nobody spoke English except for the last person I got to, and this is extremely ridiculous. But for the sake of safety, I will admit if they bomb the embassy as I have said before they will only get foreigners, or screwed their way to citizenship, citizens.

On walking back, I met a nice guy from Bolivia that was politely commented that when the USA people leave the USA they become like the locals. This is sadly extremely true, and in Mexico they used to complain that the USA people not only learned how to be corrupt, they also learned how to do it better.

ONE-DAY PASSPORT

I have now met two people that needed to get a USA passport outside the country. Both the girl in Bolivia I met and I, and both of us got it in one day. Hehehe So good job USA in a stupid way. Got the job done, but I am tired of the people working not speaking English. Contrary to any excuse, there are many people in Spain that also have learned English.

I BLOGGED HERE - AND NOW THIS IS OUT OF SEQUENCE

NOT IN NO-MANS LAND
Airport in Amsterdam

No mans land is when you have left a country but have not entered the next country. This is a place where the laws of the world are vague. Places where the smuggler set up stands to sell goods, or occasionally a Casino pops up.

I am in the Amsterdam Airport, but not in No-man land, as I am traveling inside the European Union. I do not understand Europe and the passport controls to enter Europe are almost nil, I just handed the man my passport and entered, I do not think he even stamped the thing… Does that mean I can stay forever? The custom are almost non-existent, and my belt buckle, billfold, and two flash drive hidden in my secret pockets have been clearing the metal detectors or people that would pad me down for weapons very easily, although the did stop the Arab looking people more than the white people, but that makes sense.

I suppose there are some Russian Islamic crazies that would blow themselves up to make their point also, although I am still amiss of the point.

But here I am typing away on this permanent recline chair. I was going to use the internet but the cost here is about the same as room, so I will save up the blog and blog you later.
President Bush is now the President of the USA. I am wanting to know or hoping that Arafat has met his maker and the world can be safer place. Castro and Arafat would do the world a favor by kicking off, and liberating their people from the mindset of fight. The both love to fight, and this makes their regions or countries in constant turmoil.

I will fly to Madrid in about 5 hours, and maybe I will sleep in the airport, or if the place feels easy, I will go to a Hostel, who knows I may just get on a bus or train for somewhere else. Only thing that hits my hot spot about Madrid is Bullfights or maybe girls, although big cities are not places to find nice girls.
