Hi, I´m going to be in Iquitos in about a week and a half. If anyone is interested in heading to Coca or knows when the boat leaves it would be much appreciated.

Hello! Am heading along this route in a few day's time. the map is really useful, thank you. If anyone has any recommendations or is heading that way too, drop me an email and perhaps we can meet up in coca. Anyone know of a good guide for Yasuni national park when i get to nueva rocafuerte?

I am thinking about doing this trip. Can anyone tell me how frequently boats leave Pantoja? Also, what type of boat is it? One of the big lanchas, like on Amazonas?

Hi at all!!! i made this trip (thanks for the map!!!)
last july... is fantastic!!! safe and a lot of stuff to do... a lot of idigenous villages (i stayed at san rafael, rio curaray)
the price is very very low.. i pay like 300 dollars for 1 mounth of amazon forest!!! (10 dollars from rocafuerte to pantoja and 10 dollars from san rafael to santa clotilde)
(stay in rocafuerte cost 5 dollars at night)

my racomandation, buy a big big plastic bag (or two) for put the backpack or yourself when happen a big rain and you are in a small canoa withouth roof...

see my website for the photos: www.autolycus.it (section ecuador and peru)

We just did a trip from Coca to Iquitos with Wildlife amazon located in Coca. It was a 8 to 9 day tour and very recommendable although it costed us 650 dollars each. From Iquitos we took a fast boat to Tabatinga and from there a boat to Manaus, then we flew to Belem as rivertransport would be too slow now on the end of our trip...

IT was amazing!! Thx Robert, fernando and Sandro!!!

Is it true that the boat from Pantoja to Iquitos comes only once a month? Just trying to figure out how much food to bring on the boat :)

Thanks!

I was looking at your map of travel from Iquitos, Peru to Coca, Ecuador. I want to see the Amazon River, but all the lodges are extremely expensive. My desitination after Iquitos is Ecuador, so this seems like the perfect route!! I have a few questions.

1.) How long ago did you complete this adventure?

2.) What was the total cost?

3.) Since I am a female do you think this route would be safe if I was traveling with one other male?

Thank you!!!
Melissa

youre map is something of a legend in iquitos. Just came up on the mçbopat from pucallpa and looking forward to the boat to coca tonight. Its leaving a day late because it had to wAIT for cargo and should take 5/6days. Apparently boats arent allowed to teravel at night.

November 21 to December 2 is maybe a long time, I would think at 20 days starting to be longer. There are few things to consider...

1. How often did your son write normally.

2. Is your son a drinker or Ayuahausca type person.

3. When he gets to Coca, to really use the internet he will need to travel to Quito or a larger area.

4. How long does he stay in each city.

If he only stayed in Iquitos two days and took off, this is a very long time, if he was in Iquitos for two weeks, then the time on the river is not long. He could easily find places and stick for a week or two.

What is your sons habits? How long for a city, how long between writing. This is Andy of HoboTraveler.com now in Philippines, he for sure should have finished the trip to Coca, the boat trip is not that long. BUT Coca doe not have good internet.

Good luck.
